It’s actually… People, Process, AND Technology
Not… People, Process, THEN Technology
Most seem to follow or preach “THEN”.
But then again, over 70% of today’s digital initiatives fail, already over 30% are dissatisfied with their investments, and less than 4% are receiving significant business results from the data.
We are all entitled to our own opinions, but not the facts.
This is one of those subtle nuances resulting in wasted time, money, and stalling adoption.
Take it from someone with over a decade of proven results, who has interfaced with well over 500 construction professionals, businesses of all sizes and segments, and dozens of data-driven initiatives. This nuance matters.
Even in an age where over 80% agree technology is critical for productivity and profitability, and well over 50% have already implemented new technology, then why are so many still crafting analog-processes first, then adopting technology? This results in the following realities:
(1) You won’t adopt because the technology doesn’t fit your analog-based process.
(2) You will spend time and money revising processes and training.
(3) You will experience disruption and dissatisfaction by the people, delay results and ROI, and likely see the initiative scrapped when it comes to annual budget reviews.
Eg: Using data to predict where issues are most likely to occur, so your people can be at the right place, at the right time, with the right information to successfully proactively mitigate is a technology-enabled process used by people. It literally can’t happen the other way around.
So, if “THEN” is the most followed, but most are not receiving results, while those who followed “AND” are, then logic dictates “THEN” is not as effective as “AND”.
People are obviously the foundation, but technology must be at the forefront of thinking.
