🍎 The results for this year’s Firms Filling Fridges fundraiser for the Ottawa Food Bank are in!    The fundraiser, which ran for all of October, raised an outstanding $60,050.01! Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s campaign, and helped us clear our goal of $50K by a healthy margin! For the Golden Can Challenge, in which firms from across the city competed for the highest donation total, we had a thrilling four weeks! In the end, we have the following division winners: 🏆Large Firm: Gowling WLG 🏆Medium Firm: Rasmussen Starr Ruddy LLP 🏆Small Firm: Robert Lewis Law The CCLA has been holding the Firms Filling Fridges fundraiser as an online campaign since 2021. With this year’s total, we now stand at over $320,000.00 raised for the Ottawa Food Bank in the last 4 years! Bravo to the Ottawa legal community!

Our next Take a Paws with the Ottawa Courthouse Therapy Dogs session is November 13. Drop by from 12:30 to 2:00 to take a break from work and spend time with some of our "Class of 2026" therapy dogs in training! That' right - puppies! Snacks (and lint roller) provided. 🐾

The CCLA and the Advocacy Club have recently joined forces to create a new committee! The New Legal Professionals and Advocacy Club Committee will be continuing the tradition of hosting an annual conference for newer lawyers, fun Advocacy Club socials, and super-helpful “Wiki-How” workshops. As of January 1, 2025, a new "Foundations of Sole Practice (Practice Essentials Course)" will be mandatory for all licensees who declare as a sole practitioner for the first time.
