On December 4, 2024, the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Ric McIver, approved an Order in Council that will bring Clearwater County and the Village of Caroline together. This historic change officially took effect on January 1, 2025, creating a new, larger Clearwater County. On Tuesday, January 7th, the new interim council was sworn into office, and we caught up with interim Reeve Michelle Swanson and Clearwater County CAO Rick Emmons to talk about the path to the new Clearwater County and the path going forward.
