  • In the oil and gas industry, there's often a significant disconnect between regulatory permitting and the actual execution of projects, particularly when it comes to environmental compliance. This gap can lead to costly delays, compliance issues, and increased risks. 🌍🔧 **Why does this disconnect happen?** 1. **Regulatory Complexity**: Navigating the ever-changing and complex regulatory landscape can be overwhelming. 2. **Communication Gaps**: Miscommunication between regulatory teams and project teams often leads to misunderstandings and compliance issues. **Personal Leadership Challenges:** I've faced these challenges firsthand, balancing the need for strict compliance with the pressures of meeting project deadlines. It’s not easy, but it’s essential for the success and sustainability of our projects. **Strategies for Bridging the Gap:** 1. **Proactive Compliance Planning**: Integrate compliance planning early in the project lifecycle to anticipate and address potential issues. 2. **Effective Communication**: Align project execution expertise with permitting and stakeholder planning, requirements and commitments in the project development phase through execution of the project. 4. **Leveraging Technology**: Utilize tools like BirdDog to track and manage compliance issues effectively, ensuring real-time monitoring and reporting. By addressing these challenges head-on, we can improve project outcomes, reduce risks, and ensure environmental stewardship. Let’s work together to bridge this critical gap and lead our projects to success. How have you managed the disconnect between permitting and execution in your projects? • After some encouragement from a respected colleague, I’ve decided to share more about the personal and professional journeys that many of us quietly navigate in the Oil and Gas sector and as business owners. Here's a bit of vulnerability from me: For a long time, I believed that success and financial stability would align me with the person I wanted to become. I thought that reaching a certain level of success would fix everything that wasn’t going right—that I would transform into the ideal version of myself. But life taught me that it doesn't work that way. It’s the small, everyday actions—organizing, planning, and honesty—that truly define us. Honesty, especially with oneself, is crucial. I've had to face some hard truths. Holding myself accountable was the first step towards real change. Was I following my plan? If not, why? These questions led me to understand that the small things really are the big things. In recent years, I’ve started and grown my own Daniels Dynamic, developed a compliance app, BirdDog, and am building a team to bring it to market. But my greatest achievement is the beautiful family my wife and I have built together. None of this would have been possible without learning to take control of what I could and adapting to what I couldn't. It's terrifying at first, but each day it becomes less so. With careful planning and calculated risks, life becomes more predictable. I'm not sure how often I'll post reflections like this, but I know that sharing this has been cathartic. If this message speaks to you, then I’m glad to have shared it.

  • Setting your objectives is important. Collective understanding across your functional teams is just as important. You'll need to define your methodologies with multi-disciplinary input. What do you need from your managers and experts? What do THEY need from you. Knowing what questions to ask and when they need answers means saving on slip n bust risk.

  • This has the potential to be great news for Canada. There are many exciting projects on the books in British Columbia right now that can help provide much needed energy in Europe. LNG Canada is entering it's commissioning phase, Cedar LNG is awaiting it's own FID, and Woodfibre has started construction. However, we are really excited about the PRGT acquisition by partners in Ksi Lisims. An aggressive push to develop the terminal and pipeline will allow the scale of export to meet the worlds increasing demand. https://lnkd.in/gN5mAgjv

  • It's disappointing to see this project go to the chopping block. Unfortunately, until Canada can expand its eastern resource access we won't be seeing any robust economic development for the east coast. National prosperity requires a strong political will, that includes removing barriers to access, reducing regulatory impositions, and taking the risk out of the massive project development costs required for these projects (in this case $41MM). https://lnkd.in/gMUehGNA
