  • September 30th. we honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡 This is a time for reflection, learning, and respect for the stories, histories, and cultures of Indigenous peoples across Canada. It is a day to acknowledge the painful legacy of residential schools and the lasting impacts on Indigenous communities. We stand together in remembrance of those who were lost and those who are survivors. We commit to listening, understanding, and walking the path of reconciliation—both in our personal lives and in the way we work within our communities. Let us not only reflect today but take meaningful steps towards building a better, more inclusive future for all. 🧡 #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters

  • Congrats to all the students.

This week we kicked off our Heavy Metal Summer Experience with our 11 students! Students participated in sessions related to Health and Safety, Project Management and Virtual Design Construction (VDC). They also had their first look at our Sheet Metal Shop where they were shown the fabrication process. During the Project Management session, students were tasked with planning, purchasing and managing a popsicle stick model build. This taught them the importance of planning, communication, resource tracking and time management. For the VDC sessions, students learned about drafting, surveying, and 3D virtual modeling. They also received hands-on experience with our Trimble Total Station. Big shout out to Brendan Myers, Kyle Taylor, Cory Spirak, Nic Ranger, Vince Cazabon, Mike Hurley and Rachel Cimon for their participation. We’re looking forward to hosting sessions on HVAC Service and Plumbing next week!

  • Today, we proudly graduated an incredible group of students for our Heavy Metal Summer Experience, where they explored the exciting world of trades! Over the past few weeks, they’ve gained hands-on experience, learned valuable skills, and discovered the rewarding paths within the trades industry.   Yesterday, our students had the amazing opportunity to visit an actual construction site, seeing firsthand the impactful work they could one day be part of. The enthusiasm and dedication they’ve shown has been truly inspiring. A big thank you to Morley Hoppner for making the site visit possible.   Congratulations to all our graduates! 🎉 Your hard work and passion have shone through, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next. Thank you to our mentors, sponsors, and everyone who made this program possible. A special thank you to: UA Local 71, SMWIA Local 47, SMART Canada, Ottawa Technical Secondary School, Boys & Girls Club Ottawa, and Ottawa Construction Association (O.C.A). Here's to building bright futures!

  • The pre-construction planning of the Lux Mechanical Room was instrumental in achieving a record-time installation and delivering a high-quality product. This success required a coordinated team effort and seamless collaboration from all DILFO departments. A big thank you to everyone involved in this remarkable achievement.
