As we approach the final weekend of Muskoka: Home of the Stars, I’m so grateful for the incredible support from the Muskoka community. Every town and partner played a role in making this stargazing adventure a big hit! This wasn't just a win for Muskoka Tourism it's a win for MUSKOKA ✨. A huge THANK YOU to Amy for sparking the idea of stargazing and to James, Ciara, Holly, Jennifer, Ellen, Kelly, Torin, Trisha, and Morgan for all coming together to collaborate on this program and for welcoming guests on chilly evenings. Special thanks to Robin Tapley for his enthusiasm in hosting these events and involving four of his knowledgeable students (Phil, Emara, Emily and Vanessa). I’m also grateful for our enthusiastic partners like Muskoka BeerSpa (Melissa), Deerhurst Resort (Marcie), and the Canadian Race Boat Hall of Fame (Ann) who jumped on board to get involved! Thank you as well to our broader tourism community of supporters: 5 Chambers of Commerce, 3 BIA's, Explorers' Edge (RTO12) and Destination Ontario! We reached over 11 million impressions, including CBC/Radio-Canada interviews, AM640 campaign, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) ads, along with Meta and Google. ⭐ Together, we hosted 23 stargazing events with 1,352 registrants, inviting people to Muskoka in months that are historically quieter. ⭐ More exciting initiatives are on the horizon with this amazing Tourism in Muskoka group! So, when someone asks, “Where do the stars live?” Remember, just look up! ✨ https://lnkd.in/ghXY4CgX

We’re so excited to share that our region took home THREE Tourism Awards of Excellence last night! Tall Pines Music Festival won Tourism Event of the Year (Kevin Goodman, Jonny Desilva) celebrating its tourism impact and community spirit. Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre received the Indigenous Tourism Award for the new Misko-Aki Exhibit, honouring Indigenous culture and history and Bala Cranberry Festival earned the title of Ontario Culinary Event of the Year! Thank you to Tourism Industry Association of Ontario for an incredible Ontario Tourism Summit. It’s a highlight of the year to connect with colleagues and to continue to learn. A big congratulations to Destination Ontario on 25 years, we’re so proud to be part of #TeamOntario.

In honour of Destination Ontario's 25th anniversary, we're diving into the archives to showcase unique tourism photos from the last century. A nostalgic look at Ontario’s vibrant travel history, reminding us of how far we've come and how much more there is to discover. Here is a look at Windermere House, 1952.
