Over the past few months, I've had the privilege of taking part in the WYTEC Blue Training program as a trainee from one of three learning hubs across the Atlantic Ocean. Along with a cohort of trainees from hubs in Nova Scotia, Ghana, and Cabo Verde, we participated in training modules pertaining to Ocean Technology, Maritime Safety and Risk Management, and Business and Entrepreneurship in the blue economy. This opportunity was made possible through DOTCAN Institute with the support of Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute, Biosfera NGO, Initiative For Africa, SOAR - Sustainable Ocean Applied Research, Ocean Startup Project, Canada's Ocean Supercluster, Dalhousie University and Fisheries and Oceans Canada A wide range of subject matter experts from all three hubs delivered the course material along with their insights and experiences related to the fields of study. As a Nova Scotian, it was incredibly powerful to learn through firsthand accounts about ocean-related work being done abroad. WYTEC Blue has helped to forge some meaningful (and much needed!) connections between Canada and West Africa. Throughout the program I’ve gained some new friends among fellow trainees. There were lots of opportunities for collaboration throughout the program–culminating in a group-integrated research project where teams presented unique solutions to shared challenges faced related to Ocean Tech and Maritime Safety and Risk Management (MSRM). I’m certain that these connections will undoubtedly continue after the conclusion of the program. Along with Ocean Tech and MSRM, the Business and Entrepreneurship module has helped trainees develop essential skills needed to thrive in the blue economy, be it public, private, or non-governmental. Most importantly, we’ve gained a toolset and motivation for supporting the livelihoods of our communities through a sustainable ocean startup. At the conclusion of the program, I’ve received certificates for completing both the Ocean Technology and Maritime Safety and Risk Management streams. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking initiative such as WYTEC Blue, and I’m hopeful for future collaboration in solving some of the toughest challenges facing our oceans. Hello LinkedIn, I have an exciting news In my bid to attain more knowledge in the blue economy, and being successfully selected as a participant of the WYTEC Blue Economy Training which seeks to enhance women and the youth on technical skills and knowledge on Blue Economy, I am pleased to announce that I have successfully earned 2 certifications in Maritime Safety and Risk Management and Ocean Technology respectively through this program. After long weeks of learning from industry experts, brainstorming and sharing of ideas with colleagues across all three hubs: #Ghana, #Canada, #CaboVerde, I can proudly say, I have gained more insight and knowledge as well as created great connections and networking with amazing people, career wise and personally.  I am also elated to share my joy in the fact that my team members Djelany Pinto, Raphael Amevor and I were awarded the “Best Group Integrated Research Project” in the Maritime Safety and Risk Management stream across all three hubs for our innovative and practical proposal aimed at Empowering Fishermen and Fisheries Control Agencies against IUU Fishing through awareness creation in Cape Verde and policy enforcement in Ghana using carefully thought out educational modules.  Thank you to the organizers and partners DOTCAN Institute, Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute, Initiative For Africa. This past Saturday was the GRAND FINALE of the 1st Edition of #WYTECBlue training... what a memorable adventure it has been!! This unprecedented program was powered by #DOTCANInstitute with the support of a #WYTECBlue network of partners, namely the Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute, Biosfera NGO, the Initiative For Africa and our collaborators (Dalhousie University, SOAR - Sustainable Ocean Applied Research, Ocean Startup Project, Canada's Ocean Supercluster), and partially funded by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. We are all sad to see this first edition come to an end but so pleased with the outcome of the training, not to mention the newly created community of amazing Pan-Atlantic ocean youth and professionals, and particularly excited about how we will all engage again in the near future!! We are eager indeed to see how the #GroupIntegratedProject ideas and solutions to ocean challenges proposed by the #WYTECBlue trainees will evolve and come to fruition. We are also ambitiously thinking about the next WYTEC Blue editions, but also restless thinking and working towards the longer-lasting Graduate Education program, #PAGE2OT, which will consolidate and expand the bridge being laid out by #WYTECBlue. 📢 Hi Linkediners, the first trimester of 2024 was just amazing! 🎊 I have been selected to attend the WYTEC Blue - Women & Youth Technical Capacity for the Blue Economy program powered by DOTCAN Institute , with the coordination support from Initiative For Africa and a network of partners including the Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute, Biosfera NGO and SOAR - Sustainable Ocean Applied Research among others. Its global objective was to grow technical capacity amongst women and youth in Canada and West Africa (Cabo Verde e Ghana) for the promotion of safe, secure, and sustainable blue economies. I’ve Got Exciting News LinkedIn 🎉 Happy new week, everyone! Over the weekend, I had some amazing experiences that I couldn’t wait to share with you all. As part of my ongoing commitment to learning and growth in the blue economy sector, I was selected to participate in the WYTEC Blue training program held in Ghana 🇬🇭 , Cape Verde 🇨🇻 , and Canada 🇨🇦 . This incredible opportunity was made possible by the government of Canada, DOTCAN Institute, and my training hub in Ghana, Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute. 
I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully earned 2 certifications in Ocean Technology and Maritime Safety and Risk Management through this program. Additionally, I am proud to share that my team members which included Katelene Delgado Bridget Sylvester (and a few others, not sure of their LinkedIn names😅) was awarded the title of Best Group Integrated Research Project in Ocean Technology across all three hubs for our innovative proposal aimed at improving data collection of ocean species in remote areas.

Participating in this training as the sole representative from Nigeria was truly a rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the knowledge and connections gained throughout this journey.
