On Saturday, September 7, the Wood Automotive Group was proud to host the Flames Sports Bank 10th Anniversary celebration at Woodridge Ford Lincoln. It was an incredible evening full of inspiring stories and heartfelt recognition for the founders, sponsors, volunteers, athlete ambassadors, and staff who have made the last decade possible. Special thanks to all guests of honor including Sports Bank Founders Bill Comrie and former Calgary Flames GM Al Coates, as well as KidSport Calgary & Area CEO Kevin Webster, Wood Automotive Group founders Gerry and Elaine Wood, Calgary Flames Alumni Tim Hunter, and all KidSport volunteers for joining us. Wood Automotive Group is proud to support Flames Sports Bank in their mission to provide safe, certified helmets to kids in our community who need them most through the Power of a Helmet campaign. Helmets are essential for keeping our kids safe in sports like hockey, ringette, and lacrosse, but they are also one of the hardest resources to secure. Every helmet must pass strict safety guidelines to protect our children during the game, but many donated pre-owned helmets, while appreciated, do not meet these standards. As their program grows, so does the need for helmets. Following 2024, the Calgary Flames Sports Bank expects to equip upwards of 800 kids with the protection they need. Every $50 donation ensures a new, certified helmet for a child in our community. However, every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us closer to keeping our kids safe and protected.
