Work continues on the expansion to our Element5 #masstimber facility. We're building out our #glulam capacity and adding over 200,000 sq.ft. to the size of our current plant. Machinery is making it's way from Europe to us including this new glulam line mechaniser from Pinomatic Oy. Once the plant expansion is completed next year, our mass timber production capacity will double to 100,000 cubic meters annually. Exciting times! #glulamline #woodhandling #plantexpansion #element5

📢 Project Update for 1620 Main St. 📢 We haven't given an update on our #affordablehousing project in Hamilton for awhile. Happy to say that this 6-storey #masstimber building has topped out! Mass timber went up in 44 working days from basement sill plates to CLT roof panels. DETAILS 🌲 Mass timber was used for almost the entirety of the structure, including floors, walls, roof panels, unit demising walls and envelope, stairwells and elevator shafts. 👏 This is CityHousing Hamilton’s 1st mass timber project, and will be one of the first mass-timber Passive House multi-residential buildings in North America. ♻️ This will make it one of the most energy efficient buildings in Hamilton and will ensure low operating costs and almost 0% greenhouse gas emissions for the life of the building. 🏗 The development will provide 42 apartments, with: - 52% being deeply affordable rent geared-to-income units, - 48% will be offered at ‘half-market’ rent. 👷🏼 Kudos to the project team: Architects: mcCallumSather General Contractor: Melloul-Blamey Construction Urban Planner: Landwise Civil & Structural Engineers: MTE Consultants Mechanical and Electrical: DEI Consulting Engineers Building Envelope and Moisture Control: RDH Building Science Acoustic Consulting Services: HGC Noise Vibration Acoustics Mass Timber Supplier: Element5 Mass Timber Installer: The Contract Framing Group Inc. Today is #NationalHousingDay, the perfect day to spotlight a current #Element5 #affordablehousing mass timber infill project - 1120 Ossington Ave, in Toronto. 🏗️ The superstructure was completed in only 21 days! The client - St. Claire's Multifaith Housing Society, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and supportive services. This project expands the footprint on their existing property, a former church that was converted into affordable housing units in 2011. Using underutilized land that surrounded the church, the new development is a 3-storey, L-shaped #masstimber addition that will contain: - 25 self-contained affordable housing residential units - amenity and office spaces - air source heat pumps 🌟 The speed of the project was due to using pre-fabricated cross-laminated timber (#CLT) and pre-assembled kitchen and bathroom pods. 💪 You can see from the photos how tight the space was to work within.
