Unlike the greater population that is exposed to much of Elections Canada’s online presence, and/or has a mailing address, many Downtown Eastside community members do not have regular online access or a mailing address. This poses many hurdles to getting timely and accurate information, and difficulty voting is compounded frequently by an absence of ID. Eastside Works is proud to partner with Elections Canada to do outreach in the community and combat these brarriers to electoral participation. 🗳️ #DowntownEastside #InspireDemocracy
Some Canadians face unique challenges when registering or voting. Through the Inspire Democracy program, Elections Canada works with organizations across the country to reduce barriers to electoral participation. Today we're giving a shout-out to: • Alliance for Healthier Communities • Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness • EMBERS Follow them to see what initiatives they have planned! #InspireDemocracy [Video description: Reducing barriers to electoral participation with Alliance for Healthier Communities.
