Head, Nigeria Electrification Programme - Rural Electrification Agency

Access to reliable electricity is essential for quality education and innovation. Through the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria - Nigeria Electrification Programme (NEP) we have made strides to bridge the gap in #energyaccess for Nigeria’s education sector under the #EnergizingEducationProgramme (EEP) Phase II. Sustainable energy solutions for educational institutions are more than infrastructure—they empower students, optimize research capabilities, and create thriving environments for learning and innovation. By addressing energy challenges, we directly support global goals such as #SDG4 (Quality Education) and #SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) This week, the REA Management team led by the MD/CEO Abba Aliyu received the Honorable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo A. Adelabu and conducted a pre-commissioning inspection of the 3MW solar hybrid power plant at the university of Abuja. We also paid a courtesy visit to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Aisha Maikudi to discuss the project’s impact and future sustainability and collaborations. His visit reaffirms the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to electrifying educational institutions and positioning them as beacons of sustainable development. This inspection visit reflects our dedication to transforming educational facilities into smart hubs of progress and resilience, ensuring that no institution is left behind in our mission to power Nigeria’s future. With the #EEPII projects set to be commissioned soon, we are excited to witness the positive impact these projects will have on the educational landscape of Nigeria.
