We’re thrilled to announce that the ENVGO NV1 has been awarded the 2024 Gustave Trouvé Award for Excellence in Electric Boats and Boating in the category ‘Electric Boats Under 8m / 26 ft In Development’. This prestigious recognition reflects the support of 6,000+ electric boating enthusiasts worldwide and the expert votes of an International Panel of 32 industry leaders, whose votes were weighted at 3:1. This was the first time in the five-year history of the awards that a Canadian company was among the winners. "The NV1 project is ambitious. Creating a commercially viable recreational powerboat that both planes and flies on hydrofoils with only speed and direction input from the operator is a BIG ask. From other hydrofoiling projects, such as the C-Class catamarans and the America’s Cup, I’ve learned that foiling itself is relatively straightforward, but maintaining a constant height above the water and waves is a significant challenge. While J. David Weiss, who also partnered with ENVGO, focused on defining the boat's aesthetics and concept, my responsibility was designing the hull shape, 3D modeling the composite surfaces (hull and deck), conducting CFD (computational fluid dynamics) performance analysis, and developing the structural design." The electric revolution continues! Manitoba Hydro, the electric power and natural gas utility in the province of Manitoba, is considering deploying an EV charging network. 🤩 The provincial government is moving forward with electrification, recently empowering Manitoba Hydro to operate its own EV charging network. “By adopting new standards and best practices for connecting EV chargers to the grid to ensure the reliability of the charging system, Hydro will give Manitobans the confidence they can use their EVs anywhere and anytime.” This is an exciting step toward expanding the use of electric vehicles!
