SMART. SOIL. SCIENCE
About us
EMS has spent 15+ years developing an innovative suite of solutions that aims to transform the way contaminated sites are managed, monitored and remediated. Our suite comprises of three interactive solutions: EMS-Quantifiers: A first of its kind solar-powered soil and groundwater sensor system that is placed in the ground and actively evaluates hydrocarbon (contaminant) levels every 30 minutes, 365 days a year. This allows decision makers to continuously evaluate the soil state and make real-time data-backed decisions. o Accurate estimate of site liabilities o Continuous remote data access o 99% decrease in carbon footprint o Single setup cost, no maintenance EMS-Optimizer: Working with the contaminated soil data collected from the Quantifiers, they can optimize a formulation of minerals that will be used to draw contamination out of the soil like a magnet attracting millions of iron filings. o Tailored to each specific site o Accelerates remediation o Significant cost savings o Reduces mobilization EMS-Distributors: A proprietary tool that adds the optimized minerals into the contaminated soil. These minerals will then actively pursue and capture the hydrocarbons and clean the soil. o Access to remote locations o Non-intrusive option for remediation on Active Sites o Reduced carbon footprint o Significantly cheaper set up costs If you are looking to learn more about how we could help your organization or clients, we encourage you to visit our website to connect.

🌟 EMS TEAM MEMBER SHOWCASE 🌟 Hi, I’m Syed Zohaib Aziz, Full Stack Developer at Environmental Material Science (EMS)! When I first joined EMS, it was a small company with big ambitions where I had the opportunity to wear many hats. From building and deploying the company’s first IoT database and servers, crafting user-friendly frontends, diving into DevOps, handling IT needs, or even heading out for field visits; these experiences not only honed my technical expertise but also gave me a firsthand appreciation for the impact our work has on environmental innovation. Armed with a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan and a strong foundation in software development, I thrive on solving complex challenges. My work focuses on developing systems that empower EMS to drive sustainable practices and deliver innovative solutions. Outside the world of code, when I’m not gaming, working out, or experimenting in the kitchen, I’m fulfilling my Canadian duty of snow shoveling—because, let’s face it, no winter workout plan is complete without it. I’m proud to contribute to EMS’ mission of innovation and sustainability, to ensure that technology becomes a powerful ally in protecting our environment. ✨ #EMS #Team #Proud #EmployeeSpotlight #Software #ITExpert #TechTeam

🌟 EMS TEAM MEMBER SHOWCASE 🌟 Hi, I’m Dave S.! I am the Director of Engineering at Environmental Material Science (EMS) and licensed professional engineer in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. I joined the company in early 2022, bringing my research experience, as well as a long history in electro-mechanical design and manufacturing. My day-to-day at EMS includes mechanical design, providing technical direction and continuous improvements on our sensor and remediation technology. I ensure that our technology is of the highest quality, both materially and in their data transmission. My career began in the late 1990’s working in the construction industry, before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta. I love solving mechanical and electronic problems in the service of a higher goal. That is what keeps me fired up every day. Outside of work, I love the outdoors, camping with family, and quality time with my 3 children. In the rest of my spare time, I enjoy reading, building / flying high powered rockets, and smoking meat. The EMS mission, along with my passion for technology, is my motivation to make EMS better every single day. #EMS #Team #Proud #EmployeeSpotlight #Engineers #MakingMagicHappen
