W.H. Auden wrote: “Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” And water is what our latest blog post discusses—specifically, water resources analysis within ArcGIS. Installed on top of ArcGIS Pro, Arc Hydro expands on the capabilities of ArcGIS by helping you build a foundational dataset suitable for water resource analysis and integration with external hydrologic and hydraulic models. Happy Friday! Today we're grateful to be able to feature the City Of Guelph's Veteran Street Names app, built by the City's Randy Harris. The app pays tribute to and provides biographical details about the fallen Guelph-area heroes after whom many of the City's streets are named. Per Randy Harris, "I consistently maintained an inventory of city streets named after veterans using a database, and had a PDF of the names on the City webpage. However, staff and the public frequently requested additional information about the veterans." Thus was the Veteran Street Names app born. The app uses poppy symbology, which when clicked on reveals a veteran's full name, conflict, age at time of passing and date, place of burial and other biographical details, including photos (where available). The app is linked on the City of Guelph's website so that everyone—whether City of Guelph staff or members of the public—can better understand the important history behind Guelph's toponymy. Explore the app for yourself: https://ow.ly/JJh750UZAxz Have you developed an app or map of your own that you'd like to see featured here? We want to know about it!
