    Working on network faults has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It has provided me with the ideal opportunity to deepen my understanding of the network, share my knowledge, and collaborate with like-minded professionals. On Friday, I had the chance to demonstrate the capabilities of iOLM to a colleague. While an iOLM test typically runs end-to-end, on this occasion, the test was unable to detect an end fibre (where the cabinet should be). This situation offered an excellent opportunity to educate my colleague on what this indicates, where the fault is likely located, and how we would approach resolving it before even arriving at the site. As a result, we were able to cut the time required to identify and diagnose the fault by half, compared to the traditional method. I can't emphasize enough how valuable and effective this kit is!     After few weeks of calm, we are back on the field to try to better understand which the painpoints that operators face in their daily network operation, and to see how EXFO can help them on optimizing testing and troubleshooting procedures to minimize site downtime. Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit a site with high RSSI, noise that had previously been identified as coming from two different sources, PIM (Passive Itermodulation, the always present issue, especially in the lower bands) and external interference. Using the EXFO FTB 5G Pro, and making use of ConcealFab, Inc. accessories for PIM mitigation, we were able to determine that the source of PIM was the antenna itself. After it was replaced, the noise level decreased by over 20 dB, as seen in the plot. Additionally, with the spectrum analyzer included in the same platform, and, after understanding from the shape of the noise, that the interference could be generated by the system itself, we were able to identify the noise source as the power supply of the base station itself. As usual, the flexibility of the FTB 5G Pro allowed us to tackle the identification of two issues at the same time, and solve them to minimize the noise the customer had in the UL channel of the n8 band. #PIM, #RSSI, #5G, #SpectrumAnalyzer, #RFoCPRI, #CPRI,
