Former FCS task force chair Ian McCreary notes how three years of droughts in Saskatchewan led to record crop insurance payouts and higher premiums. He describes improvements that could be made to agricultural insurance to encourage adoption of more resilient practices that would reduce premiums.

Canadian agriculture needs good public policy informed by discussions featuring farmer and rancher voices, said FCS President Brent Preston at the recent Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute conference—especially policies that are sustainable economically, environmentally, and socially.
