See the Difference a Rescued Food Box Makes ✨ Each week, the Rescued Food Box program provides community members with low-income more than 50% of their food needs—that’s 25 pounds of healthy, rescued food, including fresh produce, dairy, and more. For just $10 per delivery, this program helps members stretch their resources, build healthier eating habits, and overcome financial and physical barriers to food access. Every box is packed with care by our dedicated team to ensure good food doesn’t go to waste while supporting those who need it most. Want to help provide services including this one? A $10 donation helps cover the cost of delivery, and thanks to donation matching from South Flats by PCI Developments and Low Tide Properties, and a bonus match from the Food Stash board, your donation will be tripled until December 31! That means $10 becomes like $30 toward reducing food waste and ensuring dignified food access. 📸 One week without Food Stash deliveries vs. one week with Food Stash deliveries Visit foodstash.ca/donate to triple your impact today!

Happy Holidays from the Food Stash team! An exciting holiday announcement: Donations today will be TRIPLE matched! 🍎🥕🍅 We're thrilled and very grateful that the Food Stash board of directors has generously pledged to match donations up to $10,000 until the end of 2024! Our board is kind of like Santa, volunteering to make the holidays magical for all...except they work year-round at it! 🎅🏻 This bonus match is amazing news because it means that right now donations are being matched by South Flats by PCI Developments and Low Tide Properties AND our board, so that each dollar you donate is like $3! Make the most of this triple matching by donating today at foodstash.ca/donate. If you’re looking for stocking stuffers, you can make a gift in honour of a loved one that also honours our planet and nourishes our community. 🎁 Thanks for helping us rescue and provide over 100,000 meals' worth of good food every month to thousands who need and appreciate it!

At Food Stash Foundation, our work is about so much more than food—it's about hope, dignity, and building a stronger community. That’s why our partnership with Mission Possible is so meaningful. Together, we’re tackling some of the most pressing issues in our city—food insecurity and barriers to employment—through collaboration, compassion, and shared purpose. Mission Possible transforms lives through meaningful work, walking alongside individuals facing challenges like homelessness, poverty, or substance use. With the support of rescued food from Food Stash, they’re able to provide lunches to their team, helping to fuel the journey back to stability and self-sufficiency. When you support organizations like Food Stash Foundation and Mission Possible, you're changing lives in ways that go far beyond food. And right now, your impact can go even further—thanks to South Flats by PCI Developments and Low Tide Properties, every donation to Food Stash made by December 31st will be MATCHED dollar for dollar. By donating to Food Stash, you’re not only helping us rescue food and reduce waste—you’re also supporting organizations like Mission Possible, ensuring their teams are nourished and empowered to do the incredible work they do every day. Let’s create hope together. #BeyondFood #MissionPossible #FoodRescue #CommunityImpact #Vancouver

Cooking with unpredictable ingredients is a concept that our members are very familiar with. We don't know what exactly we will rescue each week. Our home delivery boxes are each unique, based on the member's needs (like allergies and health conditions) and preferences while also considering what we have in the fridges. The market members get to choose what produce, meat or dairy they take home, but each week looks different based on supply. Many of our members have embraced this challenge, sharing how it has made them better cooks. Each week, similar to a CSA, they receive a variety of groceries and find ways to transform them into delicious meals that last. While some lucky people can meal plan before heading to the grocery store, many who rely on food programs like ours do not have that luxury. One thing we can guarantee is the consistency of our food programs. This year, we delivered food boxes for 51 weeks and held 51 Rescued Food Markets. Although the food looks a bit different each week, you know that you can count on Food Stash being there with food. Now until December 31st when you support our programs, your donation will go even further thanks to South Flats by PCI Developments and Low Tide Properties. Help us provide predictably unpredictable food today! #donate #unpredictablity #cooking

As we approach this giving time of year, we want to express our gratitude to everyone who supports our efforts to reduce food waste and nourish our community. A special thanks goes out to the Harbourfront Wealth Management team for their recent contribution. Donations like theirs allow us to directly fulfill more than 50% of the food needs of 300 households each week, and serve thousands more. Let's talk about the quality of food that we rescue at Food Stash Foundation. To set the scene, the other day at our market we offered a whole wild-caught octopus worth $38 - instead of that ending up in the compost (or worse, a landfill) because it didn't sell at the store, a member of ours got to take this item home to cook. Each week volunteers dedicate 7 hours to sorting through the food that we bring back to the warehouse. Led by staff, they ensure that only good quality food is distributed, following well-established guidelines for consuming and distributing rescued food or food past the best-before date. As a rule, we also never distribute items that we ourselves wouldn't be happy to eat. In addition to healthy produce, we also receive donations of whole-grain items like granola from Nature's Path Foods, and organic juice from Glory Juice Co.. Providing these high-quality items is part of our mission to create a dignified experience for our community members to access good food.

What does "dignified" really mean when it comes to food access? At Food Stash Foundation, we believe dignity goes beyond simply providing food—it’s about creating an experience that prioritizes respect, choice, and inclusivity. Here’s how we bring this vision to life: 🍎 Prioritizing Choice: We listen to our Rescued Food Box members' dietary restrictions and preferences. ⏰ Respecting Time: Our Market members receive time slots so they don’t have to wait in long lines. 💳 Breaking Barriers: No ID or proof of need is required to access our programs—just come as you are. 🚚 Supporting Partners: Community partners build relationships with our drivers to select food that fits their specific programs. What an incredible evening of fantastic food and wonderful company! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our rescued food dinner event on Monday, which our amazing Community Partner A Better Life Foundation hosted. The chefs (Yoko, Chris Ito, Ian, Mark Brand, Johnny Bridge) and the team at ABLF outdid themselves to create beautiful and delicious dishes made from food rescued by Food Stash. The conversations flowing throughout the evening were truly heart-warming! We're proud to rescue 100,000+ meals' worth of nourishing and delicious surplus food every month and get it to the people who need and appreciate it. This event helped us highlight the importance of this work and celebrate the value of good food. We can't make this impact without a whole network of amazing Community Partners, and generous supporters like you! Big thanks also to Legacy Liquor Store for donating the beverages for the evening and Whole Foods Market for contributing extra ingredients for the menu. #thankyouthursday
