In alignment with the Government of Alberta's policy direction, the AER has made significant updates to its Liability Management Framework (LMF) by removing the Liability Management Rating (LMR) and associated programs. These updates streamline regulatory requirements without reducing the AER’s authority or enforcement capabilities and align with the broader LMF framework, ensuring all requirements are met. Since 2021, the AER has been implementing the LMF in phases and today marks a critical milestone in this process. As a result, the Oil and Gas Conservation Rules, the Pipeline Rules, and several directives and manuals have been revised, and outdated programs under the LMR have been rescinded.
