The Geomatics Engineering Students’ Society is a student council of the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. Each council member is a geomatics student who gives back to our community by creating opportunities for the geomatics student body to make the best of their university experience.

  • Challenger Geomatics is coming to campus to host an info session on Tuesday, November 26 at 5 pm in ENE 131.   Challenger is a larger, employee-owned, survey company that provides solutions to a variety of different industries. What makes Challenger unique is they have many projects and offices in the Canadian territories (Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories)   They are looking for all years of students!   Stop by the info session to grab some food and learn more about the opportunities they have! Registration is not required.

  • This week, Measurement Science Inc.(MSI) will be hosting an info session! When: Thursday, November 21st at 5pm Where: ENE 131 (the homeroom will be closed during the event) MSI is a young and relatively small survey company, only just founded in 2005, they provide high-quality solutions to a variety of industries. They are looking for all years of students, as they provide education training to help grow employees and advance their careers. Come learn more about their opportunities this Thursday!   • We are excited to announce that GESS is sponsoring the first 20 students to register for the Institute of Navigation – Alberta Chapter presentation. Students must sign-up to have their fees waived.   Date: Thursday, November 7, 2024 11:30 AM to 1:20 PM Location: Room 207 - Engineering Block G (ENG), University of Calgary Campus Time: Doors will open at 11:30am, presentation beginning at noon Cost: $20 non-members, $18 members, $15 graduate students, $10 undergraduate students. Includes a light lunch and refreshments. She is part of the Intelligent Navigation and Mapping Lab, specializing in mapping and with research interest in the use of smartphones for accurate 3D reconstruction.   Naman Agarwal Title: Application of Adaptive Kalman Filtering on Smartphone Positioning Biography: Naman Agarwal is a PhD student in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary. He works in the PLAN lab under the supervision of Dr. Kyle O'Keefe. His main research area is "Precise Smartphone Positioning".

  • OGL Engineering is hosting a spooky themed info session next week!   When: October 31, 5:00pm Where: ENB 112 “OGL Engineering is a Geomatics Engineering consulting company that was established in 1980. Focusing primarily on remote sensing, we own and operate 3 aircraft and their respective LiDAR and camera sensors. Using the data from these sensors, we generate geomatics engineering solutions for our clients and work with them to meet their needs. We are proud to be a registered engineering company with APEGA since 2011 and are also majority female owned.”   They are looking for internship students! It will be in ENG 207!   McElhanney is an engineering company with 30+ locations in Western Canada specializing in survey engineering, GIS, and remote sensing.   They are looking for students in all years, with summer, internship, and full-time positions!   There will be food available for students who register.
