Yesterday, Vancouver City Council voted to strengthen its climate policies for new buildings. This move will continue the momentum underway in Vancouver's building industry and beyond. Healthy, energy efficient, zero carbon homes are here. They're affordable and come in all shapes and sizes. Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. ❌️🟣⁠ ⁠ The date of November 25 was chosen to commemorate the lives of the Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic who were violently assassinated in 1960. The day pays tribute to them and urges global recognition of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).⁠ ⁠ This day also begins the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, an international campaign to call out and speak up, and to renew our collective commitment to ending violence against women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.⁠ ⁠ In our work, we advocate for urban environments that reduce harassment, assault, and other forms of GBV. However, design alone will not address this ongoing crisis. We need everyone - across all genders and sectors - to take action. It's almost time! The 2024 Gathering starts tonight and we couldn't be more excited. Over the last few days, we've had the immense honour of welcoming ICE's very first Global Delegation here in Toronto/Tkaronto. Thank you all for joining us at the Gathering. Meet Lauren Mellor from Original Power and First Nations Clean Energy Network, Heather O'Watch from The Indigenous Peoples Rights International, Emil Sirén Gualinga, Rebecca (Bec) Halliday, Yuri Guandinango from Universidad Amawtay Wasi, and Aymé Tanguila!

It was not an easy feat but thanks to the tireless effort, help and support of our volunteers, donors and staff, we have successfully planted 13,894 trees in our community this year. These trees will not only beautify the environment but will also provide numerous environmental and ecological benefits! Over the next couple of days, we will be sharing the environmental benefits of the various species of trees we planted.
