EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Acting Executive Assistant (Inuvik - 3-month Term w/ possible Extension) The Executive Assistant provides professional administrative support and assistance to the Grand Chief, Leadership Team and Board of Directors of the Gwich’in Tribal Council (GTC) in accordance with the Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (GCLCA), relevant legislation, polices, program guidelines and directives. This position is responsible for full range of administrative and secretarial services to the GTC Executive (Grand Chief), Leadership Team and Board of Directors. As a key point of contact for the GTC, the Executive Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the organization is represented in a positive and proactive manner. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the GTC, responsible for day-to-day operations and implementation of longer-term strategic direction set by the GTC Board of Directors and Executive. Specifically, the COO’s main responsibilities include providing strategic organizational and administrative leadership and direction to the organization’s Early Learning and Language, Culture & Heritage, Health & Wellness, and Education & Training Departments (the COO’s Departments). GCI represents 9,000 Gwich’in in the Northwest Territories (NWT), Yukon, and Alaska as a Permanent Participant in the Arctic Council; and is the only international organization where Indigenous peoples have a seat at the decision-making table alongside national governments. GCI supports Gwich’in by amplifying our voice on sustainable development and the environment at the international level to support resilient and healthy communities. Board members provide strategic direction and accountability to GCI, participate in Arctic Council activities, and operate by consensus. Please see poster for additional details.
