Heffel is thrilled to announce an incredibly exciting artist exhibition opening next week, Martha Sturdy: Night Light. The show explores the transformative qualities of moonlight within the natural landscape. Through her highly physical manipulation of rigid and challenging materials, Sturdy’s paintings and sculptures reveal an underlying tension between dark and light, shadow and illumination. Night Light invites audiences to discover fleeting pathways through dense forests and glimpse the undulating forms of mountaintops beneath the moon’s eye. The offsite exhibition will run from February 20 – March 5 at Martha Sturdy’s studio. Rediscovered in a barn sale in the Hamptons, this remarkable painting by iconic Canadian artist Emily Carr was acquired by its current owner for just $50 USD. The owner brought the work to Heffel for review and we knew right away it was something special.
