We can all agree that making the office a destination of choice for employees will never be achieved through corporate mandates. As this article by William Wadsack suggests, based on takeaways from Bisnow's recent Future of DFW Office event, "𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀" as a magnet to help drive employees back to the workplace. "𝗪𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝘄 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆." “𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘀,” Bashaw said. “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘇𝘆, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 [𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁] 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲❓” At HILO, one of our building partners in Irving, TX recently added a Café in their lobby and it's already having a positive impact on tenants. Our mobile platform is being used to spread the word and continuously promote the Café's products, specials and events. By putting this content directly into the hands of employees, we are reaching customers in real time, no matter where they are. “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭 𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲,” Bashaw said. “𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱-𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.” I couldn't agree more! What innovative amenities have you experienced at your office? What could make the workplace more of a destination of choice for you? Gensler Justin Bashaw #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceExperience #WorkplaceEngagement https://lnkd.in/g4RqXqhR?

🌐 How Has Commercial Real Estate Changed Post-COVID? In the latest episode of the TEN podcast, David Abrams did a deep dive into the evolving world of commercial real estate with Ivo van Breukelen, Managing Partner at The Proptech Connection. As Ivo explains, the way we consume real estate has completely transformed. From shorter lease terms to a shift from the traditional B2B model to a more B2C approach, data is now king. 🔍 He emphasizes that success in today’s market relies on knowing your tenants and employees at a granular level—what education they have, their backgrounds, how long they’ll stay in the space, and even how long they’ll stay in their jobs. The better the data, the better the insights, and the more prepared we are to adapt to this new normal. 🎧 Listen to the clip to hear more about how tech is changing the commercial real estate game! I listen to many podcasts, especially in the #CRE and #FutureOfWork space. This article by Emma Ascott in Allwork.Space | FUTURE OF WORK® highlights a terrific episode from their Future of Work Podcast featuring guest Ivo van Breukelen, Managing Partner at The Proptech Connection. Ivo and host Frank Cottle dig into the industry shifts that are driven by impactful innovations in Proptech. In the evolving commercial real estate landscape, flexibility, AI, as well as the relationships and collaboration between building, occupiers and occupants are reshaping the future of work and how spaces are utilized. As Ivo says, “𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁.” Ivo and The Proptech Connection are no strangers to the team at HILO. I had the pleasure of sitting down with him on the latest episode of my TEN podcast, where he shares global Proptech trends and insights. The Proptech Connection is tracking an impressive 19,000 Proptech companies to provide global market intelligence and insights on what’s happening in CRE. Have a listen to learn more about their data-led approach and Ivo’s passion for innovation in the built world. 🔗 Links to Ivo on TEN and the Future of Work Podcast are in the comments below ⬇️ #Podcast #CommercialRealEstate #Proptech #WorkplaceExperience #FutureOfWork https://lnkd.in/g79E_-X5

“𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀” As the workplace evolves, delivering a hospitality experience in the office is becoming a key differentiator for building owners and managers. As employees seek more meaningful in-office experiences, technology should enhance and support—not replace—the human element. This insightful Propmodo article by Franco Faraudo emphasizes that office technology should focus on empowering hospitality, rather than merely automating tasks. “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.” At HILO, we couldn’t agree more. Our platform empowers building owners and managers to foster those connections through personalized communications, services, rewards with data-driven insights that enhance the workplace experience and building utilization. By focusing on people first, HILO enables building teams to “𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀,” helping create a workplace where tenants feel engaged and supported. It’s not just about efficiency—it’s about delivering a hospitality-inspired environment that people look forward to being a part of every day. While I'm hyping the importance of hospitality in the workplace, allow me to share one of my biggest inspirations in helping to make places destinations of choice with HILO. For anyone running a business, but especially anyone working in CRE, I highly recommend reading Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. Our team embodies the values and ethos expressed in these quotes by Will: “𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗱.” “𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲; 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹.” Is your office tech empowering hospitality? #Hospitality #WorkplaceEngagement #WorkplaceExperience #FutureOfWork https://lnkd.in/gnCVZMuu

Blueprint: The Future of Real Estate was a huge success. Thanks to Martin Kelly and his entire team for producing an excellent event. Came home with over 30 new contacts for continued connection and conversation. Sorry that Charlie Miller and Scott Evans couldn't make it, but glad to have run into Mitchell Steir, albeit for a short visit. 3 very full days. Tons of learning! Great to get validation on what I have been saying for quite some time. Making Places Destinations of Choice is the new mission for CRE. Hospitality will drive more engagement and utilization. Technology will power the delivery of great experiences. Tech is a tool, not a solution. Innovation will accelerate adoption. Proptech companies need to better understand the businesses they are serving. Having deep experience in CRE will lead to stronger partnerships between startups and building owners & managers. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Determination, grit, creativity and perseverance will define more winners in the race to ensure that buildings remain relevant in the new, larger workplace ecosystem. What did you learn at Blueprint Vegas 2024?

It's day 2 at Blueprint: The Future of Real Estate in Vegas! I recently had the pleasure of connecting with Martin Kelly on my TEN podcast to learn more about Blueprint and this year's event. In this clip, Martin turns the table on me to ask about the Roundtable I'm hosting today. I can't wait to dig into a great discussion on: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 "𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲", 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 🗓️ 𝗪𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴 ⏰ 𝟭𝟮:𝟯𝟬-𝟭:𝟭𝟱 📍 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝟭 | 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗼 𝗗 | 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝟴 I think we are finally at a moment in time where office building owners, operators and occupiers know that they need to think more like the hotel industry and up the level of hospitality. That does not just mean adding more amenities. The entire industry can compete to deliver a more hospitable environment, not just Class A buildings. Those that do, will win over more customers and remain vibrant communities. 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, by Will Guidara is a must read for anyone in business today, especially in CRE, and will inspire you to see and do things differently. I hope to see you there!
