CELLULAR BUFFERS – COST-EFFECTIVE IMPACT ENERGY ABSORPTION Cellular buffers are damping units that absorb impact energy to prevent damage to moving equipment and will result in smaller and more cost-effective structures. They have high absorption capacity with long compression lengths. This translates into smaller end-loads and favourable deceleration values. Cellular buffers have a compression body made of cellular polyurethane elastomer with high structural stability. Their outstanding characteristic is their volume compressibility, which produces a short transverse elongation under pressure. Due to the wide variety of available buffer designs, we can offer a solution for many different applications. We have a standard range of cellular buffers to provide for individual solutions. 10 DISTINCT ADVANTAGES IN USING A LEVELOK CAGE CHAIRING SYSTEM * Levelok securely holds the conveyance in place during loading and unloading operations. It is not necessary to wind out or wind in the hoist rope during either of these operations. The risk of kinking the rope is therefore greatly reduced. * Nothing ever projects out into the shaft (no shaft obstruction) with Levelok Systems. * The Levelok System is fast and is not labor intensive. The cage tender alone is required to activate the system. * All clamps are applied simultaneously. There is no risk of a chair, chain, or lug becoming disengaged. Both the front and the back of the cage are firmly held in position * Each Levelok clamp will carry twice the load of its rated capacity before any slippage occurs. * With top-mounted clamps, the cage is put into tension, rather than compression, when the Levelok System is used. * No risk of inadvertent activation while the conveyance is moving in the shaft. * No extra shaft steelwork or structure is required to support the Levelok chairing system. In some cases, the shaft guides may need to be strengthened in the areas where chairing takes place. * Easier maintenance: the units are self-contained and enclosed - no build-up of material to affect moving parts. * Levelok chairing systems can be operated at any number of underground levels, as long as there is an available air supply.

A warm welcome to Ian Thompson who recently joined the HCS family! Ian is an electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience in the field. He specialized in medical device development and project management, and his expertise spans international service and technical management in Canada, Australia, and the USA. Ian worked in many industries including medical, radio, pharmaceutical, cell phone manufacturing, and commercial HVAC. He also taught computer science at the local college and university. Bringing all his knowledge and experience to HCS, Ian will be contributing to the development of PLC based interlock systems. Ian loves spending his free time outdoors and his hobbies and passions include camping, fishing, and flying kites and model gliders. He is also an avid portrait and African wildlife photographer, a dedicated pastime he shares with his wife.
