Hotel Association of Canada President & Chief Executive Officer | Award-winning Association Leader

Important day at the Canada-U.S. Economic Summit, where hundreds of leaders from business, trade, and policy came together to discuss Canada’s response to the very real, economic threats we’re staring down. As the voice of Canada’s hotel industry, I was there advocating for the critical issues we’re facing, and it was encouraging to hear the perspectives from the travel & tourism industry reflected in the roundup of remarks from the Prime Minister’s Council on Canada-U.S. Relations. Reflecting on what was discussed throughout the Summit, a key message was that Canada’s success hinges on our unity and ongoing commitment to this country, our values, and our people. Other takeaways included: ✔️Business and governments need to communicate more about the specific actions we’re taking and our resolve to face these challenges together. ✔️We must continue to engage with our U.S. counterparts, as we have an important relationship with Americans and that should remain in focus. ✔️It is time to fast track investments in key Canadian energy & transportation infrastructure, to diversity our trading partners, and build our economic sovereignty. We also spoke about procurement, removing interprovincial trade barriers, and finding more ways to bring investment into our country (including how we can be more business friendly). There is momentum, commitment, and a sense of no turning back, but time is of the essence to secure Canada’s continued prosperity. 🇨🇦 #CanadaUS #EconomicSummit #Trade #HACinAction #TeamCanada
