By the end of this workshop, you will be able to: ◆ Identify different types of non-profit organizations, non-profit leadership and decision making. ◆ Assess your strengths, opportunities, and availability for various forms of volunteer work in non-profit organizations. ◆ Examine expectations and risks associated with being a Board member. ◆ Identify practical next steps to look for and select from available board opportunities. May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People. We wear red to honour our mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and cousins and to acknowledge the families and communities who have been impacted by the MMIWG2S+ crisis. FPCC amplifies the calls to action outlined in the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People, including the call for the creation of cultural safety through stronger cultural connections. We call for investments in culture through long-term sustainable funding commitments from all levels of government to support First Nations communities in continuing to rebuild our cultural systems in language, arts and heritage.
