🌊 Throwback to My Experience at Shrimp Health Masterclass! 🦐 From March 4-9, 2024, I had the amazing chance to attend the Shrimp Health Masterclass by Genics at Universitas Sam Ratulangi in Manado. It was an eye-opening week with hands-on learning and some cool insights into shrimp health and aquaculture, delivered by Dr Melony Sellars. Here are some of the highlights: 🧬 Shrimp Biology and Anatomy: Got hands-on with organ dissections. 🦠 Shrimp Health Surveillance: Learned how to keep an eye on shrimp health. 🔬 Pathogen ID and Histology: Dug deep into shrimp pathogens and how to analyze them. 🧪 Microscopy, PCR, and DNA Extraction: Practiced lab techniques for detecting shrimp diseases. 🌊 eDNA Sampling: Explored environmental DNA sampling methods. 🛡️ Shrimp Pond Biosecurity: Picked up tips on keeping shrimp farms safe from diseases. ⚠️ Disease Outbreak Management: Worked through real-life cases of managing shrimp disease outbreaks. 🌱 Environmental and Shrimp Health Management: Learned best practices for keeping the shrimp environment healthy. On top of that, I met some new friends from all over, expanding my network in the aquaculture world. This experience has only deepened my interest in the shrimp industry, and I’m excited to keep learning and exploring this field.
