  • KWM Presents: Our 5th Annual Lassies Only Whisky Festival! Sorry gents, this whisky festival is just for the ladies! Our 5th Annual Lassies Only Whisky Festival takes place just before International Women's Day — on Friday, March 7th. Guests will be able to sample from up to 80 whiskies in a fun and relaxed setting, without any dudes — other than the friendly staff at KWM. We will also be featuring some delicious bites from our neighbour, Peasant Cheese. Ticket proceeds from this event will be donated to The Brenda Strafford Foundation’s Heart Home Network. The Heart Home Network operates Alberta’s largest second-stage shelter and offers support & programs for women & children. Friday, March 7th from 7 PM to 9 PM $50

  • Kensington Wine Market reposted this

I believe this is 6th straight year for which I will be writing a blog post and tasting note for all 25 bottles showcased in our KWM Whisky Calendar. https://lnkd.in/gnAVUa-c Doing a bit of research and writing about each and every bottle is always a lot of fun, and the recap tastings we host virtually via Zoom (and then post on YouTube and Facebook) are a blast. I am incredibly thankful that I have a job that supports my obsession and whimsy in this endeavour. I would probably write these posts even if nobody read it anyhow, but it is nice to have a small but dedicated audience of fellow whisky lovers to share it with! https://lnkd.in/gnAVUa-c

  • This Is Not An Advent Calendar - The Full Monty - $330+gst This is not an Advent Calendar; it's a series of 5 Advent Whisky Advent Tastings we are hosting on December 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 27th at 7 PM MT on Zoom. We have endeavoured to make each of these 5 tastings equally interesting, with a comparable balance of products with respect to price, age, and style. Each tasting has a whisky over 23 years of age, and the average over all the tastings, excluding the 6 NAS bottlings, is 17.8 years. Each tasting also includes at least 1 KWM Cask, 1 peated whisky, and 1 whisky which is not a Scottish single malt. By selecting this "Full Monty" option, during the early bird window, you will SAVE $50. Each tasting kit includes 5 - 28ml top-secret premium whiskies. The name of each whisky is a closely guarded secret and has been redacted. KWM Staff have either been sworn to secrecy or are suffering from an entirely unrelated bout of short-term memory loss. You'll have to log in to the tasting on Zoom from a secure location using the QR code on the box for a classified debriefing on all 5 whiskies, Thursday, December 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 27th, 2024, @ 7 PM MT. The origins of each whisky will be revealed in the tasting, but can also be found on the KWM Blog, through our social media channels, or by scanning the QR code on each bottle. Each full Monty tastings set also includes a KWM Whisky Advent Discount Card, only available if you purchase the full set! Thursday, December 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, & 27th, @ 7 PM

  • The Rare & Old Whisky Festival Friday, September 20 @ 7PM $950 Per Spot Our KWM Whisky Festivals are always a great time, but this one will take things to a whole new level. We will only be pouring a little over 40 whiskies, but all but 3 of them are aged over 30 years. The main pour list includes 35 whiskies aged 30-48 years; roughly 1250 years’ worth in all, with an average age of 35.7 years. Participants will receive a custom-cut crystal Glencairn glass and will have the opportunity to sample at least one of 7 Super Pours. To elevate the experience we will also offer gourmet food above and beyond our regular festival fare... but don't worry there will still be chocolate-dipped bacon! Friday, September 20 @ 7PM

  • Turntable Whiskies with Alasdair & Gordon Stevenson *THIS IS A VIRTUAL TASTING* If the names Gordon and Alasdair Stevenson sound familiar, that's because they have twenty years of Scotch whisky industry experience between them. Before starting Turntable Spirits the brothers were travelling the world promoting Scotch whisky for brands like Old Pulteney and GlenDronach. The brothers have started a modern blending house to "flip the record on the ordinary" and "strike the right chords, creating harmonized blends." We'll sample 7 Turntable Blended Whiskies while discussing the brand and all things whisky with Ally & Gordon. Friday, July 19th, 2024 @ 5PM $30 for a tasting kit

  • Loch Lomond KWM Cask Launch Tasting *This is a Virtual Tasting* At the start of the 21st-century single malt boom, most whisky aficionados, myself (Andrew) included, looked down our noses at Loch Lomond. At the time the distillery was primarily focused on entry-level blended whisky. The distillery, founded in 1966, was set up to produce both malt and grain whisky, a self-sufficient blender. Tweaks and changes in the decade that followed meant that Loch Lomond could produce 11 unique distillates on-site. It was only after the focus started to shift toward single malts in the 2010s that whisky experts and enthusiasts truly began to appreciate Loch Lomond's potential. To mark the launch of our 2nd KWM exclusive Loch Lomond Cask, we are putting on a Loch Lomond vertical tasting to explore this fascinating and very unusual distillery! Tuesday, July 16th @ 7 PM $45 for the tasting kit

  • Cheese Please: Stampede Hangover Edition You can only drink so many coolers and cocktails and eat so many deep-fried candy bars over the period of ten days - or so we have been told by our doctors. It is an excellent idea to break this pattern and get back to what truly matters in life: wine and cheese! Join Marnie and Peasant Cheese in a rediscovery of what makes wine and cheese the best of all pairings possible! Friday, July 12th @ 7PM $50 per tasting spot
