Here’s how I start every interview (even with The Rock!) — and YOU should do it before ANY big meeting: First, I remind myself: This is not ME talking to THEM. This is US working toward a GOAL. Then, when we start talking, I define our joint mission: “Entrepreneurs want to learn from you, to build their own businesses,” I say. “So through this conversation today, we’re going to teach them some of the things that drove your success.” I’ve said this to countless A-listers and CEOs (like The Rock and his business partner Dany Garcia, in that photo), and they always love it... ...because I’m creating a shared purpose, establishing clear roles, and defining an outcome we both want! This same approach applies in other ways, like: 💬 SALES CALLS: Identify someone’s problem, and talk about how to solve it together. 💬 GIVING FEEDBACK: Instead of criticizing a colleague, frame it as a collaboration: “We both want this to work, so let’s refine it together…” 💬 NETWORKING: Instead of trying to sell yourself, lead with generosity: “Tell me what you’re working on—maybe I can help.” The rule is simple: When you treat conversations like collaborations, people open up. If this post was helpful, please share it and follow Jason Feifer for more. 🚀 I help you stand out — join 65K readers who get my tactics weekly: jasonfeifer.com/newsletter

"Below are a few alternative ways people sometimes convey the idea of “not woke.” Keep in mind, the term “woke” carries different connotations in different contexts, so these phrases can range from neutral to more charged depending on usage and tone." Traditional-minded Not politically correct (PC) Conservative-leaning Unaligned with progressive values Apolitical / Politically neutral Old-school Less socially conscious Not engaged in social justice issues Skeptical of ‘woke’ culture Counter to progressive trends
