  • Celebrating Diversity During the Holiday Season As the holiday season approaches, it’s a perfect time to reflect on how we can create inclusive spaces that celebrate the diversity of our teams. While Christmas is a significant celebration for many, it’s not the only holiday being observed during this time of year. Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Bodhi Day, Yule, and others hold deep cultural and spiritual meaning for different individuals and communities. This season, let’s make an intentional effort to embrace and honor these diverse traditions. Here are some ways to do so: 1. Recognize All Celebrations Take time to learn about the holidays your team members celebrate. Whether it’s through informal conversations or organized activities, demonstrating genuine interest fosters understanding and connection. 2. Create Inclusive Spaces Decorations, events, and greetings should reflect the cultural variety within your organization. Consider neutral language like "Happy Holidays" and decor that represents multiple traditions or celebrates togetherness universally. 3. Be Mindful of Schedules Some holidays may require time off for observance. Encourage flexible scheduling and respect the needs of your team. Providing options ensures no one feels excluded or overburdened during their special time. 4. Host Multicultural Events Organize potlucks, storytelling sessions, or cultural showcases where team members can share their traditions. This not only celebrates diversity but strengthens team bonds. 5. Practice Inclusivity Year-Round While the holidays are a great starting point, fostering an inclusive environment shouldn’t end when the decorations come down. Use this season as a springboard for ongoing learning and celebration of diversity. This holiday season, let’s commit to making our workplaces welcoming and inclusive for everyone. Celebrating together in our unique ways not only enriches the season but also strengthens the unity and spirit of our teams. What traditions do you and your team celebrate? Let us know in the comments!

Crafting a Brand Identity for Laurabel Mba Consulting I recently had the incredible opportunity to design the visual identity and brand guidelines for Laurabel Mba Consulting, a Canada-based consultant driven by purpose and advocacy. LAURABEL Mba’s work goes beyond marketing—she is a fierce advocate for BIPOC, marginalized, and underrepresented communities, using her voice to drive inclusion, equity, and representation. From her activism sparked by George Floyd’s tragic story to hosting Out of the Fog on Rogers TV, Laurabel inspires change and empowers communities. As a designer, capturing the spirit of her mission and the essence of her advocacy for the brand was both a challenge and an honor. Every identity element—from colors to typography—was intentionally crafted to reflect her passion, strength, and dedication to creating a more inclusive world. This project wasn’t just about design; it was about amplifying a voice for justice, representation, and hope. I’m grateful to contribute to such meaningful work. #PurposeDrivenDesign #BrandIdentity #LaurabelMbaConsulting #AdvocacyThroughDesign #InclusiveMarketing #BIPOCVoices #RepresentationMatters

  • One of my favorite parts of being an anti-racism consultant is working with students. Last Thursday was one of those special days when I had the pleasure of co-presenting with Stephanie Howlett (She/Her/Hers)🏳️🌈❤️🏳️⚧️ from diversitynl at the ANC Ideas Anti-Racism Summit for Youth. During our 60-minute session, we empowered young people to start building their own anti-racism toolkits. Watching them collaborate and present ideas on how to foster anti-racism within their school communities was truly inspiring. We often hear that “youth are the future,” and if these students are any indication of the future leaders we’re shaping, then I believe we are in excellent hands.

Last week Laurabel Mba and I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with our future leaders at the Youth Anti-Racism Summit 2024 hosted by ANC. 🙌 So impressed with the youth! 💭 The youth were so open to discussing the topic of anti-racism and learning what they can do to create change as individuals and bring this back to their schools which are experiencing an increase in racism. 💥 As an adult, I am constantly learning and unlearning and thanks to Laurabel I am on my journey to being a better ally and accomplice through being an interrupter and change-maker. 🫶 Thank you Jamie Ryan for all your planning and having us facilitate a session. Truly grateful to be able to connect with young people. #letsbethechangetogether #business #leadership #DEIB #leadingtheway
