This week, our Wastewater Team Lead is presenting in Martinique about the progression of the first MAGNA Biofilter Wetland System (MBWS™) that has been operational since 2023. We've come a long way since the initial design was presented at the 2022 ICWS— and now our cold weather wetland pilot has been operational for over a year! Here are some of the MBWS™ highlights: - Operational in -40°C weather - No chemical additions - Reduced operational and maintenance costs - Environmentally resilient - Increases biodiversity It is such an honour to be able to speak to some of the world's leaders in wetland research, especially about something that we are so passionate about. Our team recently got together for our annual retreat. This year we held it offsite at the Inglewood Golf and Country Club. We debriefed, laughed, planned, and connected. Retreats are meaningful to us for many reasons, but since the last year brought a lot of change, it was great to use this time for the whole office to reconnect. It's time for one of our favourite days of the year: GIS Day. GIS, or geographic information systems, helps our ideas become reality, and we love it! Our Technical Services team is able to use GIS tools to assess and manage spatial data, identify patterns and trends within our project work, and ultimately create beautiful maps and figures—all to provide our project teams and clients with the necessary data to bring our innovations to life. A few weeks ago we released a blog about our ongoing Livingston Pond E MAGNA Stormpark™ project. It's really great to see a positive response to this project! For those of you who haven't had a chance to read it yet, here are some highlights: - The Livingston Pond E MAGNA Stormpark™️ project is a beautifully designed and highly functional stormwater management system in Northwest Calgary encompassing 500 ha of serviced development area. - This MAGNA Stormpark™ is designed to replace the existing wetland area with a green infrastructure solution to manage the community's stormwater. - MAGNA worked closely with the client to ensure the community's needs were met, one of which is preserving the community's character by prioritizing urban green space.
