But, population growth and the advancement of modern health care technology has outpaced the physical infrastructure. So, we're excited to welcome a new, modern facility to our family of hospitals that will support both the community's needs and our workforce's ability to provide exceptional care. Last week, exterior panelling was installed at 1120 Ossington St., on our affordable housing project for St Clare's Multifaith Housing Society. The 3-storey building's unique facade pulls colours from the neighbouring converted church and building, used as programming space and housing by St. Clare's. Exterior finishing and interior finishing continues to move along well and we are looking forward to handing over the keys! Constructed out of mass-timber and lightweight-framed panels, the finished project will provide 25 deeply affordable units for individuals experiencing homelessness. What a night! Our mcCallumSather Holiday Party brought together team members from all three offices for an evening of joy, connection, and celebration. Partnering with Ken Fukushima Architects, mcCallumSather has reimagined this essential community space with a focus on accessibility, sustainability, and welcoming design for all ages. The 15,000 sq. ft. branch includes dedicated zones for adults, teens, and children, along with flexible meeting and study areas. With geothermal heating, solar panels, and a high-performance envelope, the design sets a new standard in energy efficiency, exceeding Toronto’s Green Standards. 📢 Project Update for 1620 Main St. 📢 We haven't given an update on our #affordablehousing project in Hamilton for awhile. Happy to say that this 6-storey #masstimber building has topped out! Mass timber went up in 44 working days from basement sill plates to CLT roof panels. DETAILS 🌲 Mass timber was used for almost the entirety of the structure, including floors, walls, roof panels, unit demising walls and envelope, stairwells and elevator shafts. 👏 This is CityHousing Hamilton’s 1st mass timber project, and will be one of the first mass-timber Passive House multi-residential buildings in North America. ♻️ This will make it one of the most energy efficient buildings in Hamilton and will ensure low operating costs and almost 0% greenhouse gas emissions for the life of the building. 🏗 The development will provide 42 apartments, with: - 52% being deeply affordable rent geared-to-income units, - 48% will be offered at ‘half-market’ rent. 👷🏼 Kudos to the project team: Architects: mcCallumSather General Contractor: Melloul-Blamey Construction Urban Planner: Landwise Civil & Structural Engineers: MTE Consultants Mechanical and Electrical: DEI Consulting Engineers Building Envelope and Moisture Control: RDH Building Science Acoustic Consulting Services: HGC Noise Vibration Acoustics Mass Timber Supplier: Element5 Mass Timber Installer: The Contract Framing Group Inc.
