  • This fall, Mining Matters partnered with Alamos Gold Inc. Gold to deliver three exciting days of Mining Rocks programming at West Lynn Heights School in Lynn Lake, MB. Returning for our fourth year with this amazing school, we had the opportunity to engage 55 enthusiastic students through hands-on activities that brought Earth sciences and mining to life!  Highlights included exploring robotics in mining, discovering the everyday uses of minerals and rocks (even through Minecraft connections!), and delving into the diverse careers in the mining sector.  We also hosted a community night, where families joined us for Earth science-themed arts and crafts. Activities like uncovering fossil fish and creating quartz bracelets and pendants made for a fun and memorable evening.  A huge thank you to Alamos Gold for making this program possible and for supporting education that builds mineral literacy and inspires curiosity for Earth science! #geology #earthscience #geoscience #mineral #education #mining

Hands-on Earth science workshops and guided exhibit tours introduced 67 students and three teachers from local schools to mineral exploration and mining. Mining Matters thanks CIM NL, the participating schools, nine exhibitors, and the incredible Memorial University students who volunteered as Education Ambassadors. Together, we’re inspiring the next generation!
