I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off Black History Month than to revisit the insightful discussion I had on the Mino Care podcast with Elsie Amoako, CEO of Mino Care; Denise C., Director of The Endometriosis Network Canada (TENC); and Joanne Ukposidolo, a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist and Certified Pelvic Floor Therapist. Together, we explored the critical topic of endometriosis in Black women, shedding light on the unique challenges and disparities they face in receiving care. Endometriosis is often misunderstood, and Black women face more significant challenges. Nuffield Department of Medicine: Women’s & Reproductive Health shared research that showed that Black women are 50% less likely to be diagnosed compared to white women and often wait over a decade for answers. This highlights systemic disparities in healthcare that demand urgent attention. Managing endometriosis starts with focusing on the pillars of health: sleep, balanced nutrition, hydration, exercise, emotional well-being, and stress management. Honour your culture through your diet while working with a doctor or nutritionist to create a plan tailored to your needs. Incorporating gentle, sustainable exercise can also help manage pain and improve overall health. By addressing these challenges and raising awareness, we can ensure every woman feels supported and empowered in her health journey I invite you to listen to this important conversation on the Mino Care podcast, where we delve deeper into these issues: https://lnkd.in/gYZ6pge2 If you are a woman living with Endometriosis and need support with your fertility journey, please know that help is available. Do not hesitate to reach out to my practice—we are here to guide you every step of the way, www.drtanyawilliams.com Resources: Nuffield: Women's & Reproductive Health - https://lnkd.in/g-Nfz2aM Visit the Mino Care here: https://www.minocare.ca #blackhistorymonth #blackandmedicine #minocare #blackwomen #endometriosis #blackhealth #blackcommunity #minocarepodcast #reproductivehealth #fertility #fertilitytreatment #women #womenshealth #drtanyawilliams

Unfortunately, many Black women's cases are dismissed when inquiring about the effects of endometriosis. Did you know that endometriosis is one of the leading causes of infertility in Black women? Mino Care is proud to present the Pain Log Diary, a crutial tool to help you understand your menstrual cycle by documenting your period and chronic pelvic pain. Often, Black women suffer from severe period and pelvic pain without ever seeking medical help–even when that pain is indicating that there is an underlying issue that requires attention. Chronic, severe, and debiltating pain during the menstrual cycle is not normal. If you or anyone you know is suffering from period and pelvic pain during the menstrual cycle, we urge you to utilize the Pain Log Diary and share across your network, and with family and friends. And always seek the advice and attention of your doctor or care provider. To view and download the Pain Log book visit the project page on our website: https://lnkd.in/gb-2zMnN #endometriosis; #paindiary; #periodcycle; #periodpain; #sogc; #healthcanada; #minocare
