A vision for Hamilton, Led by Hamiltonians
About us
The Commons is a bold initiative transforming Hamilton’s entertainment scene through the revitalization of three iconic venues: FirstOntario Centre, FirstOntario Concert Hall, and the Hamilton Convention Centre. Led by the Hamilton Urban Precinct Entertainment Group Consortium (HUPEG) and powered by strategic partnerships, we’re creating a dynamic entertainment district that transcends traditional boundaries. In 2021, the City of Hamilton entrusted HUPEG with operational responsibility for these key downtown venues for a 49-year period. Our mission is to collaboratively redevelop these facilities into a world-class entertainment district, acting as a catalyst for the city’s regeneration. At the heart of The Commons is community. While this transformation will bring exciting new events and experiences to Hamilton, its true impact will be measured by the positive outcomes and opportunities created for the entire city—not just the revitalization of its downtown core.

For 36 years, Carmens Group and Hamilton Police Service have been hosting "It's A Kids Christmas". This event has been a cornerstone of generosity and joy in Hamilton, giving thousands of underprivileged children and their families a magical holiday experience. What makes this event so special is that every single hour volunteered and every single item served is donated. From the food, to the time and effort of over 60 HPS members, their families, and community supporters, our staff, it’s a true collective effort. What makes this event even more special is having my son’s hockey team join in to help. Instilling in our youth an understanding of what it means to give back is a powerful reminder of the true spirit of the season. #ItsAKidsChristmas #ProjectConcern #HamiltonProud #CommunitySpirit #Volunteering #GivingBack
