  • This January 29th, the eighth anniversary of the Quebec City mosque shooting that shook this country, ask your local city officials and businesses if they are taking steps to tackle #Islamophobia across #Canada. Join our #GreenSquareCampaign and ask our leaders about what they’re doing to stop the recent spike in anti-Muslim hatred. What are they doing to make sure that another Quebec City shooting, or another Islamophobic attack in London, Ontario, will not occur? Monuments across the country, including London City Hall, will be lit green on this National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia. It is time for all of us to step up.

  • A ceasefire deal has finally been reached in Gaza. Devastating images of Gaza have been circulating for years. Buildings levelled to the ground, tens of thousands of people killed, among them more than 17,500 children. But we are grateful for a sliver of hope that people stop dying. Canada must continue to call for justice in the region and for those responsible to be held responsible.  We will continue to pray. To stand. To hold each other close.

  • We note this statement by the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba regarding the recent harmful and Islamophobic social media repost of leadership candidate Wally Daudrich. We appreciate that the party has said that it expects leadership candidates to uphold the principle that PCs are open to all Manitobans, regardless of their religion. In light of Mr. Daudrich's shared Facebook post, the Leadership Election Committee has asked Mr. Daudrich to confirm his commitment to this principle. We await a direct apology from Mr. Daudrich and look forward to seeing how he addresses concerns raised by the Manitoban Muslim community. As we near January 29th, the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia, we are reminded of the harmful realities of violent Islamophobia. Words carry significant weight, and we look forward for meaningful change and action. We will be closely watching developments. There is no room for hate in Manitoba and across Canada.
