ngx is honoured to be among the plethora of companies who created media—animations, soundscapes, and films—for the for the soft opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. To see these exhibits come to life is truly exciting.
We’re so excited that the Main Galleries of the Grand Egyptian Museum opened to the public today after 20 years in the making! Cultural Innovations led the content development and interpretive planning and designed over 7,000sqm of the Main Galleries which tell the 3000-year story of ancient Egypt through extraordinary collections and digital experiences. #GrandEgyptianMuseum #Opening

For the past year, our work at Science World—a short walk away from our Vancouver office—has delighted visitors of all ages, and expanded young minds. We partnered with Phoenix Labs, Science World, DigiBC - The Creative Technology Association of British Columbia, Hadron Films, and DJW to create a rich immersive experience to showcase our local industry and inspire the next generation of creative technologists. Check it out if you're in the city!

We'd love to introduce our newly promoted Head of Technical Design, Mark Eugster! As Head of Technical Design, Mark will refine our workflows, share his expertise in audio-visual hardware, and manage our technical operations team. Home: Vancouver, British Columbia Years at ngx: 3 Current Role: Head of Technical Design Previous Roles: Producer Education: BFA University of Victoria, Diploma UX Design Favourite museum or attraction you’ve visited? Planet Word in Washington, DC. It’s a really thoughtful museum about languages with innovative displays. Museum or attraction you most want to visit? When it opens, I'd love to go to teamLab Phenomena in Abu Dhabi. We’ve heard so much buzz about the work they’re doing. And it’s a big benchmark for how the industry envisions the cutting edge. Given a healthy budget, what kind of attraction would you build? I’d make a really cool miniature museum with immersive elements where you can move through the world with a little character. How does your education cross over into your work? My jobs have been in the field of creating cultural experiences and working with experiential technology in different capacities. A lot of live events—ballet, theatre, live music, festivals. Designing media, lighting, directing shows, technical director, production manager, and all sorts of lines blurred in between. My core skill is being able to think using both a technical and creative mindset. What’s your favourite time during a project? Kickoff. Because it’s important for us to be able to strategize. It’s the major touchpoint to bring in lessons learned from previous projects and evolve to be better and more efficient. What do you like most about working in creative technology? Its diversity of perspective and experience. The fabric of ngx is that everyone comes in from such a varied background. Those unique skillsets come together and work toward a cohesive whole. What's something you’re looking forward to? I'm excited to jump into my new role! It's a great move for myself to be able to leverage the experience we’re gaining from current projects to level up and be able to push the work forward.

Last month, the National Portrait Gallery in London celebrated its one year anniversary after reopening June 2023! The National Portrait Gallery closed its doors to undergo a massive re-presentation of their collection including new works of art, a complete renovation and rehang, and the addition of AV integration. ngx collaborated with the National Portrait Gallery to create 41 multimedia exhibits throughout the gallery. Paige Doig, ngx's Experiential Design Coordinator, went to visit the gallery in London to celebrate this anniversary and our work. Enjoy this virtual sneak peek of our work in this stunning gallery and go check it out the next time you're in London! #creativetechnology #ngxinteractive #interactiveexperince #immersiveexperience #nationalportraitgallery #npg #artandtechnology #techstudio #creativetech #technology #creativetechnologist #userexperience #mediaproduction #museum #sciencecentre #culturalinstitution #education #history #design

In between long hours spent installing a new exhibit, members of ngx's team took a chance to visit a few sites around the UAE. Yana (Senior Producer), Patrick (Head of Creative Technology), and Alex B (Technical Design Manager) had no lack of choices for places to check out in the dynamic cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. #creativetechnology #ngxinteractive #interactiveexperince #immersiveexperience #artandtechnology #techstudio #creativetech #technology #creativetechnologist #userexperience #mediaproduction #museum #sciencecentre #culturalinstitution #education #history #design #install

On July 20th, Canada's Parks Day celebrates historic sites and parks across the country. In 2020, we produced a series of interactive touch screens and animated exhibits for the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site—fortifications constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries that sit in the middle of the modern day city. The immersive exhibits explore the history of Halifax and the Citadel through different cultural perspectives including the Mi’kmaq, Acadian, English, and French. June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. For our Flex Friday on June 28th, members of the ngx team are visiting museums and galleries to learn and reflect. 30 of us ventured to the newly reopened Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia, which had been closed for over a year to complete a seismic upgrade. Now reopened, it's well worth it to #VisitMOA! Elsewhere, Calgary-based executive producer Jill Roberts went to the Meryl McMaster exhibit nikihci-âniskotâpân | bloodline at the Glenbow at The Edison. And interactive developer Himali Kothari visited the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina to see To Make Smoke by Audie Murray.
