About us
Why Notch? In just over 10 years in practice as a busy orthopaedic surgeon, I have built a career as an internationally renowned surgeon and scientist, with over 350 publications, 15 book chapters, and a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2), all while maintaining a full time clinical practice and a busy family life with my wife and 4 young children. How was it possible to achieve this much this fast? I will show you. I have always been a keen strategist. Early on in my career I discovered the principles of branding and marketing and took the unique approach of applying them to my academic career. It was not always a straight trajectory upwards, but with careful planning and a strategic mindset I was able to accelerate my academic career. Through Notch, I am excited to share what I have learned with you to help ignite your career as well. Dr. Olufemi Ayeni

In the operating room, where the difference between life and death can be determined in a matter of seconds, stakes are extraordinarily high. Each member of my surgical team, from the most experienced surgeon to the newest trainee, plays a critical role. Generational differences in communication styles can sometimes cause hesitation or errors, underscoring the need to bridge these gaps. In the operating room, intergenerational communication becomes more than just a soft skill - it is a critical component of survival. This challenge extends beyond surgery - multigenerational teams across all industries offer a wealth of perspectives. While bridging communication gaps requires intentional effort and openness, the rewards are profound. In my latest article, I share strategies I’ve developed to transform these challenges into strengths.
