This March 6th, the OAC and Women in Aerospace Canada have teamed up to host InspireHER: An Evening of Celebration for International Women’s Day. The event will showcase the incredible contributions made by women in Ontario’s Aerospace sector while looking forward to what the future will bring. Hosted by WIA Executive Director, Nikki Morshedi, PMP, and OAC CEO, Natasha Gagnon, this event will feature guest speakers, a panel discussion, pop up experiences, and a myriad of networking opportunities. Happy to have started my day at a bilateral meeting between delegates of the Canadian and Portuguese aerospace industries and welcome them at BDC’s head office.   Aerospace is a key industry for the Canadian economy – it contributed $28.9 billion to GDP in 2023 and supported more than 200 000 jobs. It’s also a very innovative sector, with the highest R&D spending intensity of any manufacturing industry, and one that exports heavily, with exports that were over $19 billion in 2023. These meetings are about creating connections and expanding our vision of market diversification. Part of our role as a development bank is to bring different players together and to support many entrepreneurs as they pursue growth opportunities. In these times of uncertainty, BDC is more than ever happy to support Canadian entrepreneurs in diversifying their market presence.  **************************   Bien contente d’avoir débuté ma journée hier avec une rencontre bilatérale entre des délégué∙es des industries aérospatiales du Canada et du Portugal et de les accueillir au siège social de BDC. “Horizon Aircraft Announces Former Lilium Propulsion Expert John Wyzykowski as New Technical Expert.” Canada-based Horizon Aircraft, a company developing a hybrid-electric eVTOL aircraft, recently announced that former Lilium propulsion expert, John Wyzykowski, has joined the company as its technical expert, reports a press release. Wyzykowski is the latest in a series of new hires as Horizon continues to bolster its engineering team with people who have proven track records in the aerospace sector.
