About us
The Ottawa Sport Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to representing sport in the city of Ottawa. We support and encourage all sports, in order to create a diverse and multifaceted sporting community. Through our work, we strive to encourage participation in sport by community members of all ages, genders, ethnicities, cultures, income-levels and abilities. As an advocate of sport, we strive to assist, support and influence the growth of sport in Ottawa by: •Advocating the values and benefits of sport •Increasing the profile of amateur sport •Facilitating education and training opportunities for athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, parents and volunteers •Acting as a resource for amateur sport organizations We strive to encourage and facilitate sport tourism in Ottawa, through partnering with Events Ottawa on bidding for and hosting provincial, national and international sporting events. In conjunction with the City of Ottawa Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department, we are working toward the development of a Municipal Sport Strategy to address and support the growth of amateur sport in Ottawa.
