Last week, we had an inspiring Pan Pacific Hotels Group Orientation led by the incredibly energetic Ang Woon Jiun. At 11 pm Singapore time, he guided a group of us from Vancouver and Toronto with such enthusiasm! He emphasized that at Pan Pacific, our brand goes beyond our stunning properties—it’s our people who truly bring the brand to life, embodying the essence of who we are and what we stand for. In recent years, the hospitality industry has shifted from token gestures to a profound commitment to sustainability. Today’s article in The Business Times highlights this pivotal shift, showcasing how hotels like Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore are leading the way with innovative design and green practices. In collaboration with UOL Group Limited, the listed parent company of #PanPacificHotelsGroup (PPHG), and renowned inter-disciplinary architectural firm WOHA Architects, we developed Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore as more than just a striking 23-storey landmark but a green sanctuary in the heart of Singapore. This model of sustainable architecture features a rainwater-irrigated forest core, energy-reflective ceilings, and smart irrigation systems, all aimed at reducing energy and water usage. Our dedication to sustainability is underscored by our pursuit of #ISO14001 certification for environmental management systems. All of our Singapore hotels have achieved this certification, and Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore is on track to join them by the end of the year. Additionally, our adherence to the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Criteria ensures that we enhance environmental and cultural benefits while positively impacting local communities. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 #𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 Biophilic design is a cornerstone of our approach. Building on UOL Group Limited’s development expertise, we introduced PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, Singapore as a biophilic hotel in a garden in 2013. In 2020, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore was redeveloped as a Garden-in-a-Hotel, featuring lush foliage and abundant natural light through its sky atrium. Our operational initiatives, including in-house urban farms, optimises our farm-to-table, farm-to-spa and farm-to-bar offerings. As Mr Peng Sum Choe, CEO of PPHG, states in The Business Times, “Our hotels are an opportunity to visually and practically showcase our commitment to sustainable hospitality in Singapore.
