Thank you to Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Sylvia Jones for your support in launching Ontario’s Childhood Cancer Care Plan, 2024-2029. We are proud to work with the Ontario government to build upon our world-class childhood cancer care system. The Childhood Cancer Care Plan sets out a path for the next five years to leverage collaboration and coordination across the province to ensure wrap-around care and support for children, youth, survivors and families at every step of the childhood cancer journey. With the involvement of stakeholders across the system, including persons with lived experience, we developed five goals and objectives: 1. Quality Care in the Most Appropriate Setting 2. Equitable Access to Psychosocial Care 3. Optimal Well-being of Childhood Cancer Survivors 4. Timely and Equitable Access to Evolving Diagnostics and Therapeutics 5. Data-driven Planning and Quality Improvement This five-year plan serves to advance care and connect partners to achieve the best childhood cancer care system for children, youth, survivors and their families. We are grateful to Southlake Regional Health Centre, and to our POGO Vice Chair and Southlake Chief of Staff, Charmaine van Schaik, for hosting us for this special event during #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth. About us
Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) works to ensure that everyone affected by childhood cancer has access to the best care and support. We partner to achieve an excellent childhood cancer care system for children, youth, their families, survivors and healthcare teams in Ontario and beyond. POGO champions childhood cancer care, and as the collective voice of this community, is the official advisor to Ontario’s Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on children’s cancer control and treatment. POGO is a non-profit organization with charitable status, here for kids with cancer, for now, for life. POGO is an enduring collaboration with hospitals in Ontario with responsibility for diagnosing childhood cancer, and treating patients and survivors. Approximately 40 POGO team members are affiliated with the main POGO office, and many others work in POGO programs at partner hospitals across Ontario. POGO is committed to putting equity at the heart of everything we do. We believe diverse perspectives strengthen our ability to deliver on this mission, and that to achieve our vision of excellence requires an environment in which everyone feels welcomed and valued, including our team, and those we serve and with whom we work. We are taking action to: • Have our organization reflect the diverse community we serve • Empower people from all backgrounds to do their best work in support of our mission • Reduce barriers to our programs and services • Be a positive voice to address inequities in the broader childhood cancer system • Educate ourselves on issues of systemic racism, diversity, equity and inclusion to help us be positive agents of change For more information, visit www.pogo.ca.

On this #GivingTuesday, we want to share a glimpse into Tim's family story—a testament to the profound impact of your generosity. “Cancer doesn’t just attack your body—it drains you emotionally and financially. We had already spent ten years of savings on Tim’s care back home, where every aspect of health care—from gloves to water—had to be paid for out-of-pocket. But thanks to the help we received through POGO, we could now focus on what mattered most: being there for Tim.” Your gift today helps provide critical services for families navigating #ChildhoodCancer, like Tim’s.
