Mining Week Reflections from Vancouver 2025. This January marked my 15th year in Vancouver, with my closest thousand friends in the minerals and metals sector, as we descended on the Jay Martin Vancouver Resource Investment Conference (VRIC 2025) and the AME Roundup 2025. This year was different and exciting, as it was the first time I was attending as the new Mining Advisor for PRA Communications, which gave me the chance to dive deeply into the talks and trends in minerals and metals, check out the trades shows and connect with colleagues on the hottest topics. There was a lot happening and overall it felt cautiously optimistic. I returned north thinking a lot about one of the biggest hot topics - Geopolitical Stability and the Canadian Advantage. Sessions were packed and overflowing at #VRIC2025 with speakers from Canada and the USA alike sharing perspectives and insights on global tensions. From Canada-USA impending tariffs, to access and security of the Arctic Passage (a crucial conversation for NWT, Nunavut and Canada), to globally disrupted supply chains and technological and trade networks. Geopolitical stability was highlighted as paramount to investment decision-makers. My initial take-away...Canada needs to continue to convey it is a competitive marketplace, positioning as a reliable, stable, source for minerals and metals, but we need to get them to market responsibly, economically and efficiently. We know this. Now we do it. In the weeks since, this conversation has moved from being Industry-Government-Leadership, to dinner table and grocery store conversations as we experience a national awakening on where our security, wealth and prosperity comes from as country. Canada is resource rich AND a progressive country - these are the resources we want prospected, explored, developed and brought to market in a globally connected world. Interesting times, conversations, challenges and opportunities are ahead in 2025. Let's keep having #criticalconversations for Canadian #MineralsandMetals. #PRACommunications #VRIC2025 #Roundup2025 #CriticalMinerals #CanadaMineralsMetals

🔋 At Ferroglobe PLC, we are deeply committed to #innovation and believe in the essential role of #siliconmetal for critical applications such as EVs batteries, semiconductors and solar energy. ⚡ In a recent interview with Mining Weekly, Bill Hightower, VP of US Corporate Affairs and BD Innovation of Ferroglobe in the US, explained how we are leveraging our strong positioning and partnerships to increase U.S. production capacity of this critical material, building a robust domestic supply chain, meeting regional demand and reducing reliance on foreign markets. 🛡 As part of our efforts to ensure a steady supply and reliable deliveries, Hightower stressed that Ferroglobe is “committed to vertical integration, including the direct ownership of raw material sources”, but he also emphasized the “need for industrial policies that shield against market disruption caused by below-cost imports”. 🗞 Click here to read the full interview and learn how Ferroglobe PLC, with its unique footprint and plans for expansion, is positioned to lead the shift to silicon batteries, “a win for consumers, EV makers and the North American economy” 👉 https://lnkd.in/dF726FNN #InspiringInnovation #BuildingourFuture #EVBatteries

Vancouver’s BloombergNEF Forum brought together an outstanding lineup of speakers, all echoing a clear call to action - #Canada must take bold steps to unlock its full mining potential because the challenge is massive. BloombergNEF's latest analysis highlights that 6 billion tons of metals and minerals will be required to reach net zero by 2050. With our vast #resourcewealth and advanced #miningsector, Canada has already taken the lead—ranking #1 in BloombergNEF’s global lithium-ion battery supply chain ranking, ahead of both the U.S. and China. But Canada’s success in the #energytransition isn't just about resources. It’s about policy alignment, leadership, innovation, and responsible mining.  This means the time for bold action is now—especially for #BritishColumbia, where the opportunity to lead in the #criticalminerals sector has never been better. #Mining #CriticalMinerals #EnergyTransition #ESG #BNEF #CanadaMining #CleanEnergy #PRACommunications #MiningPR

In the latest edition of Canadian Mining Magazine, Pierre Gratton, President & CEO of the Mining Association of Canada highlighted the need for Canada to arrest the decline of the sector and offered his thoughts on what is required to build more mines faster. To get it done, Pierre emphasized the need to expand tax credits to all areas of mine development, incentivize investment through tax reform, focus government funding on critical minerals projects, prioritize trade-enabling infrastructure, streamline approval processes with better coordination at the provincial and federal levels, and enhance indigenous participation. I am very excited that the Ontario Chamber of Commerce is taking a leadership role in bringing together diverse stakeholders through our new Mining Policy Council. The Council will inform public policy on how we can unlock the value of our natural resources, addressing the points that Pierre raised and many more, and doing so in a responsible and sustainable way. While governments in Canada have talked a big game — and we no doubt have all the key ingredients for success with our rich mineral resources, talented workforce, access to capital markets, and technologies at our fingertips — our ability to capitalize on our potential has been underwhelming. We need to take real action today to position Canada as the leader of mining and the critical minerals supply chain for generations ahead. Thank you to Agnico Eagle Mines Limited for hosting the kick-off meeting and I look forward to contributing any little knowledge I have from my past life working in the sector at Vale Base Metals, Placer Dome Inc (Placer Dome Canada), and Scotiabank - Global Banking and Markets to further the impact of the Council.

⭐️Day 4 AME Roundup Highlight: Premier David Eby’s Opening Address Premier Eby delivered a committed opening address emphasizing the critical role of British Columbia’s mineral exploration and mining sector in driving economic growth and reconciliation - not shying away from the Trump hurdle now facing us. Premier Eby highlighted: ✅ A commitment to reducing permitting times ✅ Support for diversification of trade partners ✅ Recognition of the entrepreneurial risks juniors take, and a promise to strengthen support ✅ A focus on building stronger relationships with Indigenous communities Premier Eby reinforced that resource development is central to our provinces’ economic growth opportunity. There truly is no argument on how important the mining industry is to BC. Now we need to see these commitments executed to create positive impact. Plain and simple. #AMEroundup #MiningMatters #EconomicGrowth #Reconciliation #ResourceDevelopment #PRACommunications

Helping miners build industry and public trust.

For mining leaders, every day can feel like walking a communications tightrope. They’ve got to stay connected with investors, communities, Indigenous leaders, business partners, employees, government officials—you name it. Everyone has their own priorities. And let’s face it, not everyone is coming from a place of trust. The challenge is being consistent in your message and delivering it the right way to to the right people, regardless of their perspective. This year PRA Communications is doubling down on our award-winning efforts to transform how miners communicate with the world. As part of that, we’re proud to support Geologize LTD, an organization focused on helping geoscience professionals demonstrate their impact and connect to society. We're working with Geologize to offer *free training* offer to the 27,000+ delegates expected at this year's Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference. More details to come. Interested in leaning more in the meantime? Get in touch to see how PRA and Geologize can help you and your team better manage your public reputation, revamp your presentations and public engagements, refresh your online presence, and much more #SocialLicense #PDAC2025 #Communication #Training #Mining https://lnkd.in/gmiCq3uU
