Did you know that the term “open educational resources,” coined at a UNESCO forum in 2002, will turn just 22 this July? 2️⃣2️⃣ It’s a young field, but look how far we’ve come! Thanks in large part to the generosity of the OER community, the evolution has been swift, exciting, and full of creativity. Part of growing up is reflecting, and taking to heart the lessons we've learned along the way. As part of this, Pressbooks partnered with several institutions to create the Open Education Maturity Model—a simple planning tool to help frame conversations and strategy development for open education initiatives. "A project designed to address textbook affordability by lowering course material costs and improving accessibility at USF St. Petersburg has saved students more than $2.4 million over the past eight years. Launched by USF Libraries as a pilot project in 2009 and officially recognized in 2016, the Textbook Affordability Project (TAP) addresses the escalating costs of textbooks and educational materials.
