  • Hospice residence construction update! ✨ It’s been a minute since our last update, and there’s so much progress to share—let’s dive in! Outside, major strides have been made. Curbs have been poured, and connections to the city’s water and gas lines have been completed, bringing vital services to the building. Concrete work outside continues, and in the photos, you can see the progress of sidewalks and personal patient patios taking shape. A lot of care is being taken to ensure that patients and their loved ones can enjoy the outdoors together, with accessible paths for walks, serene patios for fresh air, and green spaces designed to foster relaxation and connection. With the weather working in our favor, the exterior of the building is nearing completion. Crews will continue grading the ground surrounding the residence over the next several weeks, preparing it for grass and privacy fencing to be installed in the spring. Inside, the focus is now on architectural finishes and fine details that make a house a home. Paint touchups are happening across the building, while flooring—including carpet, wood, and bathroom floor—is carefully installed. Wall tiles are going up, and ceiling grids are being put into place, ready to house sleek pot lights that are also being installed. Cabinetry and wood details, known as millwork, are also underway. Every detail is designed with patients and their families in mind, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Work is currently underway on the installation of a cozy gas fireplace in the common living room, which will create a comforting space for connection and reflection. Thoughtful touches in the library and kitchen provide places to unwind, share meals, and feel at home, making it possible for families to be together during their time here. With 35 different tradespeople on site on any given day, every corner of the residence is coming together beautifully. 2025, the year Kingston’s first hospice residence opens its doors, is just around the corner! With the opening date fast approaching this winter, it won’t be long now. Our dedicated tradespeople are working tirelessly to bring this vision to life. When the 10-bed home opens its doors, it will provide a welcoming environment for individuals and families to find comfort and peace during their final days together. This vital community resource is one we are proud to offer and we’re now officially recruiting the compassionate team who will help make it a reality. • 🎉✨ Happy Kwanzaa! ✨🎉 Today marks the beginning of Kwanzaa, a celebration of African American and Pan-African culture, community, and heritage. At Providence Care, we are committed to fostering inclusion, equity, and belonging. Kwanzaa encourages reflection on seven guiding principles: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. These values resonate deeply with our mission to provide compassionate, person-centered care that uplifts and empowers everyone we serve. We wish all who celebrate a joyful Kwanzaa filled with love, light, and connection. 🕯️❤️

  • 🎄✨ Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from Providence Care! ✨🕎 Christmas is an annual holiday that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and is celebrated around the world on December 25. It is a time to reflect on the values of love, compassion, and hope that Jesus' birth brings to the world. This year, Christmas also coincides with the first day of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, a celebration of resilience, faith, and community. While these holidays are distinct, they both highlight the importance of bringing light to others and fostering a spirit of togetherness. At Providence Care, we honor diversity and inclusion, ensuring everyone feels welcome and supported, regardless of the holidays they observe. This holiday season, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated health-care professionals spending their holidays working in our hospitals, long-term care home, and in the community. Your commitment to providing exceptional care ensures that patients and families receive the support they need, year-round. As we celebrate this season of joy and reflection, we wish everyone peace, happiness, and the warmth of togetherness. 🎁❤️

  • Last week, the residents of Providence Care's long-term care home, Providence Manor, got an infusion of holiday cheer! 🎄💌 Our residents teamed up with the JK/SK class from Holy Name Catholic School with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board for a heartwarming Christmas card exchange. The residents worked hard on creating special cards for the children and received the most beautiful cards in return, filled with love and festive spirit. It was a wonderful collaboration that spread joy and connected generations. 💜 As we quickly head into the holidays, we wish everyone a season filled with kindness, warmth, and community! 🎁✨

📢 A huge milestone for health care in southeastern Ontario! After years of planning, training, and teamwork, Providence Care and our regional partners have launched Lumeo, a new electronic health information system that connects 33 health-care sites across the region. This achievement is a testament to the incredible efforts of our teams and the organizations that came together to make this possible: 🔹 Brockville General Hospital 🔹 Kingston Health Sciences Centre 🔹 Lennox and Addington County General Hospital 🔹 Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital 🔹 Providence Care 🔹 Quinte Health Lumeo not only connects hospitals across our region but also links to Providence Care's long-term care home, Providence Manor, and our Community Services. This means better access to vital health information, ensuring smoother transitions and more connected care for our patients and clients. More than 1,400 Providence Care staff trained on this new system while continuing to provide the compassionate care our community relies on. Their resilience, dedication, and adaptability throughout this process have been nothing short of extraordinary. To our teams, partners, and communities—thank you. This is a collective achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder to take this step forward together. 💜 Here’s to innovation, collaboration, and the people making it all happen! #HealthcareInnovation #OntarioHealth #Lumeo

Thanks to our dedicated staff, the Sisters’ legacy thrives as we continue to be leader in aging, mental health, palliative care, and rehabilitation services. Today especially, we honor the past as we continue to build a future of hope, healing, recovery and wellness for all we serve. 💜 #FoundersDay #ProvidenceCare #LegacyOfHope
