Her project focuses on incorporating the Indigenous Wellness Wheel, created by Shirley Chaisson, into lesson plans for Personal Support Workers, Practical Nursing, and Bachelor of Science students at St. Lawrence College. By integrating Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being into healthcare training, Doris aims to foster a more holistic, inclusive, and culturally safe approach to patient care. Last week, Kingston city councillors Brandon Tozzo and Gregory Ridge presented the Queen’s Family Health Team with a $100,000 cheque through the City Primary Care Clinic Grant. Grant funds will support the clinic’s New Patient Intake Initiative, which enables staff to efficiently bring on unattached patients and meet their individual health needs. The clinic will also implement a program to review and update all patient records. These two initiatives will support the addition of 1,200 patients through Health Care Connect.
