✨ Lunch & Learn: Should Quebec’s English-Speaking Population Be Included in the Employment Equity Program? ✨ The Employment Equity Program was created to ensure equal employment opportunities for underrepresented groups in Quebec’s civil service. But here’s the big question: Should Quebec’s English-speaking population, with its current lower socio-economic status compared to French-speakers, be considered an equity-deserving group and eligible for this program? Join us for an insightful Lunch & Learn with Richard Bourhis, who will dive into this thought-provoking topic. This conversation is also the focus of Dr. Bourhis’s upcoming QUESCREN working paper. Register here: https://lnkd.in/enTfZgmt 💡 About the Speaker Richard Bourhis is an Emeritus Professor at UQAM and has taught at McMaster University. He’s published widely on topics like discrimination, intergroup relations, language policies, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and recipient of the Gold Medal Award from the Canadian Psychological Association.

🏒 We had our holiday gathering yesterday, and this year our activity was going to see a Remparts de Québec game. We all had a blast watching the game together, and we even had a visit from Champion, the Remparts' mascot, and Victor, the mascot of Université Laval's Rouge et Or. What a fun day!

It was a wonderful evening, and we were happy to have a word from John McMahon, sous-ministre adjoint, Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise; Charles Taker, Commissioner's Representative, Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages of Canada Québec and Nunavut Region; and Josée Grimard-Dubuc, Director, Québec Region, Patrimoine canadien -- Canadian Heritage. It was a great opportunity to look back on the last year and to celebrate RDN's five-year anniversary as well! Photo credit: Dylan Stewart Page
