Canada needs more solar and storage directly where it is used. Canada loves to do big generation on the outskirts and then send it where it is consumed, losing efficiency along the way. We need to think about this differently. The distribution system has traditionally acted as a GROSS aggregated load. The evolution of solar and storage allows for the distribution system to act as a NET aggregate load, by generating and storing electricity adjacent to the loads it services. To date, this has resulted in 3,000MWh of capacity that doesn’t require transmission connected assets. This is a great start, but we need much more. A few things RESCo Energy Inc is advocating for; 1. Reduce Interconnection Costs 2. Free Up More Grid Capacity 3. Allow Companies to Sell Power to One Another 4.
