About us

Created by cultural historian Ed Conroy, RETRONTARIO strives to collect, convert, research and exhibit vintage visual material via social media, allowing the material to live and be experienced again. We provide transfer services of content that is on other analogue video formats such as ¾” Sony Umatic, Betacam or DigiBetacam, MiniDV, Hi-8, 1”, 2”, as well as film formats 16mm and Super8/Regular 8mm. We provide consultancy services and archival materials to many films. Previous productions include 299 Queen Street West (2023), Drop the Needle (2023), No Place Like This Place Anyplace (2020), Keyboard Fantasies: The Beverly Glenn-Copeland Story (2019), Nirvanna The Band The Show (2016), and the upcoming 2024 Amazon Prime series about The Tragically Hip. We leverage our knowledge of nostalgia to provide curitorial and content creation for brands. Previous collaborations include Mary Browns, The Original Santa Claus Parade, The Museum of Toronto, Toronto Jewish Film Festival and more.
