Why do we need to change how we build homes?
If we build all residential housing to SAFERhome Standards, not only will we have homes that are safer, more intuitive, and easier to live in for everyone regardless of age or abilities, and future proof housing, we will also solve a host of other problems we are facing.
• Being able to stay in your own home as you age versus going into care is better for our both mental and physical health
• Ground level suites can support our aging parents and grandparents and keep families together
• Healthcare strains are reduced as well improving community services
• Patients can return home sooner as SAFERhomes are prepared to easily adapt to your changing needs
Building to SAERhome Standards costs only slightly more for a traditional home, and even less for units, without altering the original look, feel or square footage of the original design plans as all SAFERhome Standards are incorporated at the framing stage making them virtually invisible in the home.
SAFERhome Standards are within National and Provincial Building Codes (structural/electrical/plumbing) as well.
We have done the work to determine the Standards required in a home to meet the needs of 99% of people, and have determined the best practices for the Trades, with a measurable, standardized program that is an affordable, common sense solution for all housing.
